Frome venues reopen for live entertainment

Might Kids Beatbox posterThe easing of restrictions this week sees the long-awaited reopening of many of Frome’s entertainment venues.  The Cheese & Grain, Merlin Theatre, Westway Cinema and 23 Bath Street are looking forward to welcoming you back with a weekend of music, comedy and film.

Pop-Up Comedy are joining forces with the Merlin Theatre to celebrate its reopening weekend with an afternoon show for the whole family and evening entertainment for over 16s.

Both events will be hosted by award-winning comedian Jarred Christmas and world-renowned beatboxer Hobbit.

In the afternoon the two will present the interactive Mighty Kids Beatbox Comedy Show at the ECOS amphitheatre.  Learn some beatbox basics, make mind-blowing music and laugh your way through whatever the weather throws at you.

In the evening the pair will be indoors and joined by Jarlath Regan – Irish comedian, writer and host of award-winning podcast Irishman Abroad, plus Bristol rising comedy star Abi Clarke.

Mark ChadwickThe Cheese & Grain are welcoming music lovers back this week with a series of socially distanced, seated gigs.  Levellers frontman Mark Chadwick will be performing tonight (Thursday 20th May), followed by Henge on Friday, with lead singer of The Subways, Billy Lunn taking the stage on Saturday.

In the lead up to the much-anticipated reopening party with Fatboy Slim on June 23rd, audiences can enjoy more socially-distanced gigs from the likes of Eddie Martin, Newton Faulkner and Beans on Toast in the coming weeks.

Westway Cinema have reopened their doors with a selection of films to suit all tastes, including the multi award winning Nomadland and the much-awaited Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. Also screening are family films Tom & Jerry and Maya the Bee 2: The Golden Orb, and for older cinema-goers, Mortal Kombat, Godzilla vs Kong and Spiral.

Finally, 23 Bath Street will be celebrating the return of indoor service with an evening of T’Barry Bingo! Join the Yorkshire duo for six games whilst enjoying a “pint o’ mild”. Eyes down at 7.30pm!
