Frome Town Council hosting volunteers event to give thanks

Frome Town Council is hosting ‘VolunTea in the Park’ again this year – an event put on to thank the many volunteers that give their time in Frome and the surrounding areas.

Volunteers event to give thanksLast year’s event saw over 200 guests enjoy a traditional high tea with sandwiches, scones, cake, and copious amounts of tea, in a marquee in the park. ‘VolunTea in the Park’ coincides with National Volunteer Week, an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK – taking place from the 1-12 June. This year a traditional afternoon tea is planned again on 5 June, 2.30-5.30pm, and Frome Town Youth Band will be in attendance to play to guests throughout the afternoon.

Kate Hellard Community Projects Officer at the Town Council said “The event is open to anyone who volunteers, for example you’re a marshal at one of the town’s events, a councillor, you’re involved in a local school parents association, you listen to children read, you offer befriending to isolated people, deliver or donate to the food bank or provide one of the many other roles volunteers do – please put the date in your diary for an afternoon tea in the Park!”

Those wanting to join in are asked to register – so all guests can be catered for. Contact Laura at poultonl@frometowncouncil.gov.uk or call 01373 475572 with your name, or the name of your Community group or organisation a contact number or email address, and the number of places you want at a table. Details will be discarded after the event. The event and food/refreshments provided are all free of charge.  For more information about Voluntea in the Park check out the Facebook page here – where the Town Council will be regularly updating the event with news about National Volunteer Week, and Voluntea in the Park.
