Events Calendar Round-up: April 2022

Discover FromeIt’s a busy month for events in Frome this April!  Here’s our round up to give you a taster of what’s happening.  Also, keep an eye out for our Easter round up which will be focusing on things to help keep the kids entertained over the Easter break.

Artists for Ukraine exhibition & silent auction – 1st-24th

Artists for Ukraine posterOver 30 local artists have come together and donated works for this auction. You can view and bid both online and in-person at Black Swan Arts between 1st – 24th April 2022. All proceeds will go towards Frome Town Council’s pledge to raise funds for Frome’s twin town Rabka-Zdrój in Poland,  who continue to take in Ukrainian refugees.

Benefit Concert for Ukraine – 7th

Poster Ukraine Concert_lIf you missed the fantastic music at Frome Busks last month, or if it left you hungry for more, the music students of Frome College will be performing again, this time at the Merlin Theatre, raising money for the twin town Ukraine refugee appeal.

There will be a range of fantastic performances from soloists, bands, string group, choir, ukulele group and the percussion group.

Come What May – 8th

Come What May posterThe ultimate tribute to Moulin Rouge, Come What May is an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza taking you into the secret world of one of the greatest movie-musicals of all time. Featuring Strictly Come Dancing’s Robin Windsor and a cast of top West End performers.

Slav Spirit – 9th

Ukraine-Fundraiser-posterSlav Spirit promises to be a heart-warming concert to celebrate the music of Eastern Europe whilst raising funds for Ukrainian refugees.

The concert at Christ Church will include works by Dvorak, Chopin and Ukrainian composers for piano, piano duet, violin and song with soprano Maria Danishvar, violin Matthew Taylor, piano Stephen Marquiss and Liz Kozlowski.

Frome Vegan Fair – 10th

Frome Vegan Fair posterWhether you already live a plant-based lifestyle or you’re simply interested in why plant-based living has become so popular, Frome Vegan Fair will be showcasing food, drink, cruelty free cosmetics through to clothing, gifts and accessories.

The family event will also feature cooking demos, talks, free tasters and children’s activities!

How-to 2022 – 10th

How-to-22-PosterHow-to 2022 is a public ‘skills and resource sharing’ event. Frome organisations and individuals will be there in the day to share skills they have with others. Bring the whole family and a picnic to eat whilst you learn how to knit, use a drill, take care of your gardening tools and lots more.

Guided walks – 13th, 20th & 24th

guided walkFrome’s Guided Walks are back every Sunday and Wednesday evening. This month sees the return of three popular walks, Foul Frome, A Sense of Place and the Heritage Tree Walk.

Makers Market Easter Special – 16th

Makers MarketThis is a lovely market for crafters to show off their skills and sell their wonderful creations. From wood work to needle point there’s sure to be something for everyone at this market at the Cheese & Grain.

Ultrabeat & N-Trance – 16th

ULTRABEAT-AND-N-TRANCE-posterGet ready for a night of club classics as Clubland legends N-Trance and Ultrabeat go head to head for the ultimate throwback dance event!

Earth Day Silent Disco – 22nd

Silent Disco posterTo celebrate Earth Day, Mojo Moves are running a silent disco at dusk in Rodden Meadow. There will be two channels of sing along, dance along hits and D.I.S.C.O!  This is not a structured class, so you’ll be free to dance however you want to!

Hei! Ukrayina / Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal event – 29th & 30th

Ukraine appeal event posterFor the final weekend in April the Cheese & Grain are hosting two fundraising events for Ukraine. On Friday 29th, Jackdaws Songbirds (Frome), Sounding it Out (Trowbridge), and Shreen Harmony (Mere) unite for an evening of acapella, singing of songs from around the world, through the ages, and a special Ukrainian song.

Then on Saturday 30th they’ll be hosting a Ukraine humanitarian appeal event with live performances from The Back Wood Redeemers, Mighty One, Back Of The Bus, Henry Wacey, DJ Patmandu plus guests to be announced.
