Frome’s 15th year as a Fairtrade Town

Fairtrade Fortnight 2017 runs from 27th February -12th March and this year is Frome’s 15th year as a Fairtrade Town.

Judy Annan from Fairtrade Frome said “The food on our tables, the tea and coffee in our mugs, all come from farmers who toil, sweat and slog. However hard workers, producers and farmers work to provide the things we depend on, millions of farmers in developing countries aren’t paid what they deserve. It’s not a new problem. We need to amplify the voices of marginalised producers as much as ever in 2017.”

Judy continues “When we come together we can change the way people think about trade and the products on our shelves – the Fairtrade movement is made up of ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities for Fairtrade. Your actions help shoppers to make choices that change the lives of farmers and workers.”

Thousands across the UK and the world this Fairtrade Fortnight are holding events to highlight the Fairtrade message.

As Frome is home to many cafes, restaurants and shops which have Fairtrade products it is a simple switch to make this fortnight in buying and trying Fairtrade products.
