Events Calendar Round-up: November 2022

Frome 80s Festival 2022 – 5th

Frome 80s FestivalAn 8 hour celebration of the music of the 80s at the Cheese & Grain. Featuring a singalong to Madonna’s greatest hits with Kayleigh’s Diva Legends Show, Duran Duranish, The Korgis and Retro Electro.

The night will be finished off with a DJ set by Spandau Ballet legend Martin Kemp.

Dom Joly Holiday Snaps – 6th

Dom Joly Holiday SnapsHis first UK tour since 2011, creator of Trigger Happy TV, writer and broadcaster Dom Joly presents his Holiday Snaps – Travel and Comedy in the Danger Zone.

Dom will be talking about his exploits as a serial globe-trotting and seeker of dangerous travel spots. From North Korea through the Congo and Syria to Chernobyl, he’s visited some of the most unusual places on the planet.

Frome Walking Festival – 11th-13th

close up of feet walking on a woodland trackFrome’s annual Walking Festival offers a diverse weekend programme of guided and self-guided walks.

This year’s festival boasts 17 walks centred around history, nature, the countryside and even dancing. So dig out your walking boots and/or your dancing shoes and get involved.

Showaddywaddy – 12th

Formed in the 1970s in Leicester from several local bands, Showaddywaddy have sold more than 20 million records and have toured all corners of the world extensively.

Their live show will feature all of their biggest hits, many of which reached number one in the pop charts of Europe. Under The Moon of Love, Three Steps to Heaven, Hey Rock & Roll, When, Blue Moon, Pretty Little Angel Eyes and many, many more.

Beauty and the Beast – Ballet Theatre UK – 18th

Beauty and the Beast posterJoin Ballet Theatre UK with one of the most enchanting love stories of all time, Beauty and the Beast.

Set to a stunning classical score this production will showcase new choreography by Artistic Director, Christopher Moore, as well as feature new sets and costumes created especially for this production.

Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club – 18th

craig charlesIt’s time to shine up those dancing shoes and dig out the fly threads!

Craig Charles will be bringing his acclaimed Funk & Soul Club to the Cheese & Grain following his previous sell out performances at the venue! Plus special guest support from Sir Funk and Gorilla Tactics Crew.

Dan the Hat: Family Hangout Fair Frome Fundraiser – 19th

Dan the HatDan the Hat will be the star of 23 Bath Street’s final Family Hangout show of 2022, with all income going to Fair Frome.

Dan will dazzle you with his command of yo-yos, hats and more in jaw-dropping routines!

Matt Deighton – 23rd

matt deightonMatt Deighton has been described as ‘British folk’s enigmatic lost son’ with his solo album ‘Villager’ often hailed as a British folk classic.

In addition to his solo work, he also fronted Acid Jazz heroes Mother Earth; was Paul Weller’s guitarist in the 90s and was Noel Gallagher’s recommendation for who should replace him when he quit the European tour in 2000!

Adored by all who have worked with him, Matt’s performance at the Tree House will be one not to be missed.

Christmas Lights Switch On – 25th

Crowds gather in Frome for the Christmas lights switch onKicking of the festive season, the annual Christmas Light Switch on and lantern parade will be taking to the streets of Frome later this month.

As always, there will be the magical Light the Night lantern parade (with a gingerbread town theme) through the town centre led by the joyous Jamma de Samba, together with a variety of musical and foodie treats.

Little Red Riding Hood – 26th

Lyngo Theatre - Little red riding hoodLyngo Theatre presents Little Red Riding Hood at the Merlin Theatre.

The magical wardrobe opens its doors to a fantastic display of gorgeous garments as you’re taken you down the path into the snowy wild wood where you’ll hear catchy songs on the wind and spot hilarious puppets between the trees.
