Photo|Frome returns with a new theme, ‘Decolonising Environments’, exploring the complex and often conflicting relationships between human communities, places and the natural world.

Exhibition spaces across the town will play host to local, national and international photographers, with the addition of talks and workshops.

This year three local independent coffee shops will also be seeing a piece of the action. Projects, Café La Strada and River House will each have exhibitions related to coffee growing, tasting, production and cafes across the world.

Zoe Rahmen is one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. A 2021 Ivor Novello Impact Award winner and a vibrant and highly individual pianist and composer, her style is deeply rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste.

Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician working most recently with the likes of George Mraz, Courtney Pine and Jerry Dammer’s Spatial AKA Orchestra.

Frome Festival – 7th – 16th July

Frome comes alive with music, art and culture as the Frome Festival returns for its 22nd year.

With over 200 events taking place across 10 days, the Festival aims to celebrate the best of Frome, with events and activities taking place in so many places and spaces across the town – from venues and galleries to pubs and parks.

Hidden Gardens – 14th – 16th

Frome Hidden Gardens showcases a variety of gardens across the town – small & large, some more mature, others are work in progress.

We welcome many returning old friends as well as a dozen or more gardens opening for the first time this year.

As usual, different gardens are open on different days, some offer refreshments or plant sales, so check the programme for full details.

Open Art Trail – 8th – 16th July

Bennett Centre exhibition

The Frome Open Art Trail celebrates local artists, makers and crafts people, taking place during the Frome Festival.

On view will be a variety of beautiful arts and crafts, exhibited in studios, homes and venues.

Some of the Art Trail is in walking distance of the town centre, and the more adventurous will be rewarded by visiting more outlying venues.

There is affordable arts for everyone including ceramics, paintings, textiles, photography, glass and jewellery.

The Good Life – 27th – 29thGood life logo

Remember the Goods – Tom and Barbara, suburban eco-warriors? And their next-door neighbours Margo and Jerry Leadbetter, desperately trying to maintain the Surbiton status quo?

Well, they’re back – and on the stage at the Merlin Theatre in a theatrical reimagining of the TV sitcom that delighted countless millions.

This nostalgic play celebrates a time when, whatever our differences, we still managed to get on with our neighbours.
