My Garden of a Thousand Bees

June 16 @ 16:00 - 18:00

Free
Meadow In My Garden is a local Community Interest Company helping people to go wild in their gardens and working with community groups, councils and landscapers across the UK to transform monocultures into wildlife friendly planting schemes.
To celebrate Great Big Green Week they have organised a series of free screenings of the wonderful film My Garden Of A Thousand Bees followed by a Q&A / bee hotel making/demonstration session.
Locked down during the coronavirus pandemic, My Garden of a Thousand Bees follows acclaimed wildlife filmmaker Martin Dohrn as he sets out to record all the bee species in his tiny urban garden in Bristol, England. Filming with one-of-a-kind lenses he forged at his kitchen table, he catalogues more than 60 different species, from Britain’s largest bumblebees to scissor bees the size of a mosquito. Over long months, Dohrn observes how differences in behaviour set different species apart. He eventually gets so close to the bees he can identify individuals by sight, documenting life at their level as we have never seen it before.
The film is provided completely free of charge. Donations in support of our work can be made at https://meadowinmygarden.co.uk/pages/donate
