Fundraising: Writing Better Bids

Funding has a key role to play in developing community ventures and enterprises.

If you need to write bids and apply to trusts and foundations for funding and you would like some hints and tips on how to be more effective, this short course is for you.

Ruth Knagg, a fundraiser with 25 years experience, will use real examples from Frome charities and community initiatives of various different scales, to equip you with checklists and useful practical techniques to enable you to make better use of your time – and hopefully to achieve better results.

There will be an opportunity to learn what grant funders are really looking for and hands-on exercises so you are not talked at the whole time! It is also a great way to meet other people in exactly the same position as you are and to find out that we are actually much more supportive than competitive in this game.

We are particularly encouraging local play ventures to come along in support of Frome Town Council’s new play strategy.

Ruth has worked on both sides of the fence, both fundraising and funding. She was responsible for fundraising for Whatcombe Fields and for Action on Disability and Development. She sits on the Board of the Andrews Charitable Trust and in the past has assessed funding bids to Frome Town Council.

The day is run by Edventure Frome, with support from Frome Town Council, Somerset County Council and Somerset Skills and Learning. Attendees can also benefit from 1-to-1 following coaching and advice.
