Experimental Printmaking workshop

29th Nov 2019 @ 10:00 - 16:00

£90
Experimental printmaking

Join us for a day-long experimental printmaking workshop. Inspired by the exhibition, David Smith. Field Work, this class will explore the technique of drypoint.

Drypoint is a printmaking technique where the surface of recycled aluminium is incised and drawn into with an etching point. It can also be scratched, hammered and cut to make marks and textures that will create a burr and hold ink. The metal plate is then inked with etching ink, wiped with scrim and printed on thick damp paper using a portable press.

The workshop will be led by master printmaker Penny Grist, and is a unique opportunity to learn about drypoint’s many applications whilst getting creative with paper stencils, mono-print, colour inks and collage.

This class is suitable for adults with little or no previous experience.

All materials will be provided.

Tickets are £90 and include a two-course lunch at Roth Bar & Grill.

Penny Grist is printmaking lecturer at Bath Spa University. She has exhibited her prints in many exhibitions in the South West, and has recently returned from an Erasmus exchange to Stockholm, where she worked in the printmaking studios at The Royal Institute of Art.
