The Newt in Somerset

Gardens at The Newt in Somerset

The Newt in Somerset is a country estate with splendid gardens, woodland and farmland. The core is Georgian, with limestone buildings the colour of burnt orange, the seat of the Hobhouse family for more than two centuries. Innovative design is paired with country walks, garden produce and superb service – wrapping you in a sense of wellbeing.

The hotel offers elegant rooms that have been restored and reimagined, the unique setting inspires garden-to-table dining, a garden-scented Spa and acres of space for adventure.

Hadspen House, built around 1690, captures the essence and warmth of a Georgian country home, with 23 individual bedrooms throughout the house and its Stable Yard. A short walk or cycle through the orchards, The Farmyard offers a further 17 bedrooms with relaxed rural charm.

At The Botanical Rooms restaurant guests can enjoy seasonal dining inspired by their historic surroundings, feasting on estate meats and vegetables cooked on a unique grill, fired with wood from the estate’s own woodland.

The garden houses The Garden Cafe, Cyder Bar and Gelateria serving fresh, seasonal fare, created in-house at the bakery and creamery.  Pre-ordered picnics are also available.

The grounds offer cultivated gardens to inspire, ancient woodland to explore, cherished wildlife to behold, and an abundance of fresh produce to enjoy. Day visitors must have a valid Garden Membership prior to visiting. This entitles you to unlimited repeat entry for 12 months, as well as access to seasonal workshops and events, and regular updates from the estate.
