What’s on in Frome for International Women’s Day

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day, on 8th March, is “Inspire Inclusion”, helping to forge a better, more inclusive world for women. We’ve put together a selection of fantastic events that are happening in and around Frome to celebrate the cause. We know we’re a little early, but this will give you plenty of time to put the dates in your diaries and spread the word!

ADHD and Women with Dr Samantha Hiew

Join Dr Samantha Hiew, multi-award-winning storyteller, scientist and social entrepreneur as she explores the collective experience of what it means to be a woman in this world. This talk will highlight the lives that women have endured to spark self-acceptance, compassion and love, empowering you with individualised ways of moving forward that work for you.

International Women’s Day: Lightning Talks

A free evening of fun and inspiration in the heart of Frome. Join us to celebrate the global theme of “Inspire Inclusion” with a series of 5-minute talks from local speakers.

Trio Paradis Café Concert: Daughters of the Muse

an oil painting of two young women, playing a harp and a violinTo mark International Women’s Day, Trio Paradis’ March Café Concert programme is Daughters of the Muse – music by women composers, including Germaine Tailleferre, Lila Boulanger, Pauline Viardot, Rebecca Clark (Dumka) and Rosalind Ellicott.

This event will be held at Christchurch, from 1:15pm-2pm on 7th March. Entrance is by donation, no need to book.

Women climb for free at Frome Boulder Rooms

Frome Boulder Rooms are putting on a day of free climbing for women, in support of International Women’s Day, on Friday 8th March from 10am – 9pm.

Literary Lunch

Frome Festival are celebrating International Women’s Day by sharing a delicious lunch at Bistro Lotte with award-winning author Lily Dunn. Lily’s book ‘Sins of My Father: A Daughter, a Cult, a Wild Unravelling’ was chosen as Non Fiction Book of the Year 2022 by The Guardian and The Spectator.

The lunch includes main course, dessert and coffee with a charity raffle and talk with the author. Spoil yourself on International Women’s Day and let someone else do the cooking! £35 per person including main course (meat or vegetarian), dessert and coffee.

Women’s Adventure Film Tour 2024

Frome Boulder Rooms will be screening the latest films from @womensadventurefilmtour. It features an exhilarating selection of 7 new short films that showcase the inspiring journeys of remarkable women who have fearlessly pursued adventure in various fields. This year’s tour promises to captivate audiences with incredible stories of determination, courage, and triumph.

Mothers Circle

Worried about the climate crisis? All allies welcome, join Frome Families for the Future for a peaceful Mothers Circle to demonstrate that we want more action to mitigate climate change, for all children everywhere! Wrap up warm and bring a chair or blanket. Make a sign if you can, not essential. Speeches and songs.

Train with Frome Town Women FC

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2024, Frome Town Women invite you to join us and come and train with the Team. We will be building on the success of the 2023 training session when we welcomed around 90 players, to strengthen our links with the community and to promote women’s football in Frome.

If you are a female player over the age of 6, please register here to train with us on the pitch and join us on Monday 18th March, 6-7pm at Selwood School 3G pitch.

Plastic Free. Period – new campaign

Frome Medical Practice and the Plastic Free. Period team are launching a new fundraising campaign to give a sustainable period kit to every Year 8 & 9 student in Frome who needs one.
