Frome’s music shops celebrate Record Store Day

Now in its ninth year, the popular annual Record Store Day will be held on Saturday 16 April, a day where independent music retailers and recording artists are acknowledged and celebrated.

Frome record shops Raves from the Grave and Covers Vinyl have some activities planned for this year. Andrew Birch from Raves from the Graves said “Last year we had people queuing from 5am and by the time we opened at 9am we had nearly a whole shop full of people! Hopefully the same will happen again this year…We are pleased to have Rivers Of England perform outside the shop at 1pm, coinciding with the release of their new album Astrophysics Saved My Life which came out in February. Thousands of exclusive products will be on sale all day – items available only to independent high street record shops!”

Covers Vinyl is also planning on having live music on Catherine Hill from 2pm including Just Parsons, an acoustic singer-songwriter from Bath, The White City Shakers, string band and Sara Vian on at 4pm. As well as live music Covers Vinyl will be selling a selection of limited edition vinyl releases that are only available from next Saturday.

For more information about the events contact Raves from the Graves based at 20 Cheap St, Frome 01373 464666 or Covers Vinyl Record Store at 10 Catherine Hill, Frome 01373 472175.
