Frome Independent Market March 22

There’s a jam-packed month ahead which sees the return of the Frome Independent Market and the Frome Kindness Festival. As usual Frome’s venues will be offering a wide range of events to keep you entertained.

Black Swan Arts Young Open 2023 – 4th March-16th April

The Black Swan Arts Young Open returns for the first time since 2019.

The biggest competition for young creatives in the South West will be showcasing the work of talented 5 to 19 year olds.

The Beat Ft Ranking Jnr – 4th

The Beat poster

Considered one of the key bands of the UK’s Ska revival of the late 70s and early 80s The Beat achieve a perfect balance of pop melodies. and taut rhythms.

The band’s ferocious performances and clever blend of personal and political lyrics have made them stars at home and abroad.

Celebrated Women of Frome Walk – 8th

Clara Grant

On International Women’s Day, Frome Town Guide Lisa Kenwright has created a special edition of the walk that focuses on women of Frome known for their role in social reform.

From educational reformer Clara Grant to Emma Sheppard and her work with so-called fallen women at the workhouse, the walk will visit sites where they worked and lived, putting their lives into historical context on the way.

Amy Jeffs @ Dirty Laundry – 9th

Dirty Laundry is an exciting live event where you can experience passionate and provocative performances of stories and spoken word poetry.

Launching this Dirty Laundry night into the storysphere is local writer and medievalist Amy Jeffs, author of the best-selling storyland – a captivating exploration of Britain’s hidden folklore.

Amelie Immersive Screening – 10th

In a lively and memorable last night of The Kindness Festival, The Merlin Theatre turns into Paris for a ‘Secret Cinema’ style gala screening of Amelie complete with fancy dress, live music and unexpected pop up theatrics.

Community Bike Ride – 11th

Join Frome Community Bike Project on their first social bike ride!

They’ll be following a beautiful 12 mile route looping around Frome, taking in Nunney and Trudoxhill (including an ice cream stop!)

London Calling: The Clash Tribute – 11th

London Calling band

The Clash tribute London Calling are heading to Frome to play an intimate show at The Tree House.

London Calling will be performing all of The Clash’s self-titled debut album in sequence before playing a selection of hits and fan favourites.

An exhibition by Artists in Dialogue: War Vocabulary – Frome & Ukraine at the Silk Mill.

The first exhibition by Frome-based and Ukrainian artists (in exile in Europe or remaining in Ukraine) of project artwork and visual conversations to promote a deeper understanding of the war against Ukraine, to inspire wider dialogue and to raise further questions for visitors to the exhibition.

Frome Voices: Mozart Requiem – 26th

Frome voices

Frome’s largest community choir returns with a performance of Mozart’s glorious music, including the powerful and profound  ‘Requiem’, together with the popular and lyrical Ave Verum and Laudate Dominum.

Joining the choir will be bassoonist Andrew Huntriss who will perform Mozart’s less familiar Bassoon Concerto.
