Events Calendar Round-up: December 2023

December is nearly upon us, so what better way to see in the festive season with a host of wonderful events to fill up your calendars?

We’ve selected a few highlights, but for the full run down, take a look through our events calendar.

What’s on throughout December

1st-3rd December – Silk Mill Christmas Fair

Resident artists, jewellers, and potters will be selling their one-of-a-kind wares. Come for the shopping, stay for food and drinks, enjoy the music and general Christmas merriment.

3rd December – Frome Independent Market

Frome Independent poster winterThere’s always a lovely festive feel to the December market, with choirs, mulled cider and wine, Christmas trees and wreaths. Shop for perfect gifts and special stocking fillers directly from small independent businesses. You’ll find an amazing selection of jewellery, ceramics, homewares and fragrance, apparel, skincare, accessories and original artwork.

7th-16th December – Elf – The Musical

"elf"Enjoy a family favourite on stage for the true spirit of Christmas at the Merlin Theatre this December. After all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

8th-23rd December – The Little Matchgirl & Happier Tales

This festive season, join Wise Children at The Lucky Chance in Frome for a show full of warmth, wit and wonder. Steeped in the metaphor and meaning that run through Andersen’s enduring stories, this will be an event to delight, transport, move and surprise. For adults and brave children alike, expect music, puppetry, dark magic… and perhaps some modern truths that we all might rather remain hidden.

18th-21st December – HAF Kids Christmas Holiday Camp

Premier Education are running a multi-activity Holiday Activity & Food (HAF) programme at Avanti Park School this Christmas holiday – a free holiday camp for children eligible for free school meals. “Our holiday camps have been making kids happy for over 20 years, and this Christmas will be bigger and better than ever. Our super fun sessions are jam-packed with safe activities for every child to enjoy.”

19th December – Frome Climate Café

Climate change is complex topic that touches many parts of our lives. We might consider it’s impact on our health and wellbeing, our choice of lifestyle, how we choose to spend our money, what it means for people we care about, or how it affects our mood and emotions every day. We are delighted to re-start Frome’s monthly climate café, for anyone looking for a welcoming space to either voice their experiences, or simply come along and listen.

23rd December – Frome Town Band Christmas Spectacular

You are invited to sit back and enjoy an eclectic mix of music, specially selected to evoke the spirit of Christmas, played by Frome’s very own community brass band and showcasing the players of the future. You’ll also get a chance to add your own voice in a singalong selection of carols and traditional tunes.

28th December-3rd January – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This year Frome Musical Theatre Company will be performing one of the greatest fairy tale Pantomimes of all time, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. With a large cast, spectacular costumes, set and music, what more could you want over the festive period.

Don’t forget about the Frome Weekly Market every Wednesday and Saturday, 9am-3pm, in the Cattle Market Car Park and at Boyle Cross. Offering fresh goods, cut flowers, crafts, jewellery, home furnishings, vintage finds and more.
