The Nuts & Bolts of Running a Community Group

8th Mar 2022 @ 09:30 - 13:00

About this event

Independent community groups & clubs make Frome the vibrant town that it is and people rely on their services for their wellbeing, enjoyment and sometimes to keep afloat.

If anyone needs a dose of inspiration and hope for the future, it’s worth browsing Frome Town Council’s directory of Community groups & Clubs or the Mendip Health Connections directory of health groups & support.

This workshop is for individuals or groups who want to set up a new group or continue running an existing one. It doesn’t matter what stage you’re at – whether you’re starting with an idea or are already in the thick of it – every participant will leave with tangible next steps for their community group, and meet other people who are engaged in this locally.

The workshop will include a whistle-stop tour of the essentials for running a group – including governance structure, funding, banking, insurance, available support, and provide the opportunity to discuss any challenges or questions you have.

The workshop combines the expertise from people who have made it work, people who have experience of incubating start-ups, and from yourself. Everyone makes the day, and as participants, you will be invited to contribute your own experiences and ideas. Bring your ideas or challenges if you want to get some input or feedback from the group.

Facilitator: Ruth Knagg, Fundraising Manager, We Hear You

Ruth has worked on both sides of the fence, both fundraising and funding. She is currently Fundraising Manager (Grants and Philanthropy) for We Hear You and Edventure. She was responsible for saving Whatcombe Fields from development and co-organising a community buy-out.

This course is organised by Edventure Frome CIC, in partnership with Frome Town Council and Somerset Skills & Learning.
