Sculpture for All

This FREE course is being offered by SS&L as part of a Department for Education National Research Project to find out if leisure learning improves people’s well-being

The aim of this course is for anyone who wants to learn some new skills, meet some like minded people and improve their general well-being.

Whether you describe yourself as feeling generally quite well, or are experiencing stress, anxiety or mild to moderate depression at the moment, you may find that attending this course will have a positive effect on how well you feel.

An enjoyable and relaxed class for all, where you will explore sculpture and gain experience to design and make your own 3D piece supported by the tutor. We will look at different forms of sculpture and explore various techniques and materials used such as modelling, casting and construction.
• Introduction to sculpture from ancient to contemporary: discussing process, techniques and meanings to help inform our work. Working in our sketchbooks.
• Plaster casting textures and small objects.
• Modelling: wire armiture with clay. Developing sculpture ideas.
• Construction. experimenting and creating small 3D ideas (maquettes).
• Final design and idea put into action with tutor and peer support!
• Completion and review of our sculpture outcomes.
