Kindness in the Classroom: Compassion-based pedagogy for Early Years educators

March 19 @ 16:30 - 17:30

Free

An opportunity for EYFS educators to learn about the latest research-based tools and methods to promote wellbeing, compassion, and resilience among young children and educators – and to prevent stress and burnout among staff and leadership.

This will be a relaxed opportunity to delve into compassion-based pedagogy and to learn about research-based methods that enhance children’s wellbeing, resilience, and compassion while alleviating stress and burnout for staff and leaders. Gain insights into the pivotal role of compassion in highly emotional situations and in addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by children.

This workshop explores tools and strategies to boost social-emotional wellbeing, prevent burnout, and to cultivate resilient and compassionate communities. Attendees will gain insights from six Danish childcare institutions that have been implementing compassion as a pedagogical method since 2021. Results include improved collaboration among children, a more serene environment, enhanced conflict resolution skills, and increased focus on classroom activities.

Mikkel B. Kristiansen, director and founder of the Kind Heart Project, collaborates with schools globally to foster children’s compassionate hearts and resilient minds by integrating the Nordic early childhood education approach, with its emphasis on play, with cutting-edge research in compassion, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed education.

Suggested donation £5, booking essential.
