Frome and Villages Remembrance Services 2022

13th Nov 2022 @ 10:45

Frome War Memorial

The Annual Parade and Act of Remembrance will again be observed in Frome, when the town will join the nation in falling silent for two minutes at 11 o’clock on Sunday 13th November 2022.

Remembering not just those who have taken up arms and never returned; those injured in body or mind, and whose battles have remained in silent suffering; those left behind, – family, friends and futures not lived.  Remembrance is deeply personal, and Jane Norris, Remembrance coordinator from the Frome Branch of the Royal British Legion, encourages us all to take time to Stop, Reflect and Remember.

In Frome, the parade forms up and marches from Keyford to the War Memorial outside the Memorial Theatre at 10.45am for the service to commence at 10.55am, when, after the Last Post and Reveille, poppy wreaths will be laid and a short service will follow.

Anyone wishing to lay their own wreath is encouraged to contact Jane on 0777 6208531 or jane.norris9@gmail.com

This year will be particularly poignant with the passing of HM The Queen and accession of The King.  The 40th anniversary of the Falklands War and the current conflict in Europe will be in people’s mind, let alone the 80th anniversary of Frome adopting HMS Thunderbolt in WW2.

Villages and churches will also be holding services of Remembrance:

Wanstrow RBL Service of Remembrance at Wanstrow Church at 6.30pm, led by Jonathan Cheal with Malcolm Parr

Nunney Remembrance Service – an outdoor service at Nunney Church commencing at 10.30am.
