About this event

This 2-day facilitation training course is designed for people who manage teams, work with groups in the community, run events, chair meetings and facilitate group coaching sessions, and would like to develop their facilitation skills.

It draws on a number of theories of groups but in its essence, it is a practical, hands-on training which draws on the experiences of the participants to develop skills and build confidence in supporting groups & teams.

Facilitators:

Neil Oliver is a member of The Board of Directors at Edventure. He is a Certified Professional Facilitator and an Associate with the Institute of Cultural Affairs, Much of Neil’s current work is split between Edventure and providing program design and consultancy to Initiatives of Change an international trust and reconciliation foundation whose vision is “a just, peaceful and sustainable world to which everyone, responding to the call of conscience, makes their unique contribution.”

Neil’s group work training was with the Family Planning Association. Through Oliver Barclay partnership he has developed a focus on effective communication within groups. He has also worked as a consultant for SOLACE and holds an MA in Public and Social Administration.

Ali Barclay originally trained as a nurse and then moved into community work. After her group work training she became a professional Facilitator and set up Oliver Barclay partnership. She has a wide range of experience in a variety of settings throughout the Public and Voluntary sector. Her principal interest is in Leadership Development through team and individual coaching work. She has taught on the post-graduate course ‘Counselling in Organisations’ at Bristol University and is involved in direct training with a variety of organisations.
