Barclay James Harvest

25th Jun 2016 @ 20:00 - 23:00

Fully seated. Tickets from Cheese and Grain box office.

John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest will head to the West Country this month to play a headline slot at Glastonbury Festival’s Acoustic Stage on Friday 24th June, followed by a one-off concert at The Cheese & Grain in Frome on Saturday 25th June.

The concerts follow a highly successful tour of Germany, France & Switzerland in April where the band performed classic Barclay James Harvest material and selections from the band’s most recent studio album, “North”. The group’s first all new studio recording since “Nexus” (released in 1999), “North” featured John Lees (vocals, guitars), Craig Fletcher (vocals, bass), Jez Smith (keyboards, vocals) and Kevin Whitehead (drums, percussion), and draws on the fine musical heritage of Barclay James Harvest whilst bringing the BJH legacy up to date with expansive compositions and thoughtful lyrics

As guitarist, vocalist and one of the main writers in the band, John was responsible for such classic songs as “Mockingbird”, “Child of the Universe”, “Poor Man’s Moody Blues”, “Hymn” and many more. When the original band came to an end in 1998, John teamed up once more with fellow BJH found Woolly Wolstenholme (who had left the band in June 1979).
With new members Craig Fletcher (bass, vocals) and Kevin Whitehead (drums) the band recorded the album “Nexus” and the live album “Revival”. In 2006 John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest embarked on a UK tour which produced the CD and DVD “Legacy”. Jez Smith joined the band in 2009 on keyboards and the group continued to play throughout Europe and visited the USA. With Woolly Wolstenholme’s sad passing in 2010, John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest resolved to keep performing and in 2013 released the album “North”.
