If you’ve never been to the Frome Festival before, then you’ve missed out on the biggest celebrations in our community’s history. But don’t worry, it’s back with a bang this summer!
This July, Frome is proud to be hosting the 15th festival to date, including visitor favourites such as the food festival, local art exhibitions and much more. In past years, the Frome Festival has seen the likes of Phill Jupitus, The Levellers and Bath Philharmonia, and this year’s lineup can only get bigger and better.
As fans of the UK music scene, we are most excited to see The Hoosiers perform at The Cheese and Grain on Friday the 10th July. Known for their number 1 album The Trick to Life, their performance is highly anticipated and predicted to sell out very soon. So make sure to book your tickets!
Other noteable music mentions are the fantastic Mr Scruff, The SugarHill Gang and John Law’s Goldberg. There are so many other exciting talents lined up for Frome Festival which can all be found over on the Frome Festival website. You can book tickets for all performances on the Cheese and Grain’s website.
What’s so awesome about the Frome Festival is that it’s not just all about music. There’s a plethora of other events going on throughout the week including workshops, talks, comedy nights, storytelling performances, food markets and heaps more! It’s going to be a jam-packed week.
If you’re not one for excitable crowds, there are lots of opportunities for a relaxing day out, with tours taking place in the Frome Tunnels and plenty of beautiful art on display, including a wonderful exhibition by Frome Society for Disabled Artists and a display by local professional sculptors, Ian Marlow and Kate Semple.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about Frome Festival is that there are loads of opportunities for you to hone your craft or learn new skills. The talks and workshops mentioned above can help you develop skills in activities you may not have thought to pursue before. Among the many amazing opportunities to get stuck in, we have to admit that we’re most looking forward to the perfume making workshop at the Cheese and Grain.
And if you want to get noticed for your perfected writing skills, you can always enter a piece into the Short Story Competition for your chance to win some amazing cash prizes. This year’s deadline is the 31st May – so get cracking! You can read the rules of entry online at the Frome Short Story Competition’s official website.
Don’t wait any longer – book your tickets to your favourites over on the Frome Festival website and enjoy the creativity of our town. If you want to learn more about events coming up in Frome and other interesting opportunities to get involved in the community, click here to browse what’s on.
