Get ready, get set, walk! Frome’s Walking Festival 2025

The annual Walking Festival returns to Frome with its varied 2025 programme, offering a diverse weekend of guided walks. From town trails to longer countryside rambles, with walks suitable for all interests, ages and abilities, there is sure to be something appealing to all.

This year the festival takes place over the weekend of Friday 8th – Sunday 10th August. Over the three days, 19 walks centred around history and heritage, nature and wellbeing take place across the town, some even venturing further afield. 13 of the walks are free, but make sure to check if the walks require booking to secure your space.

The Walking Festival is a great opportunity to get out, get active and explore, meet new people and hopefully enjoy some sunshine. Some of this year’s walks offer a chance to learn about Frome’s history or geology or explore trees, plants and wildlife with an expert guide; others will suit families with young children.

Last year’s festival was enjoyed by nearly 300 people and lots of popular walks are back again in 2025, including history walks around Frome’s blue plaques and war graves, or a chance to find out about the ‘canal that never was’ in Coleford. There’s also  a walk to Orchardleigh, the five-mile Frome Inner Ring and a 13-mile walk around The Frome Walking Wheel.

This year’s Walking Festival has been coordinated by Walkers are Welcome and supported by Frome Selwood Rotary.
