Cheap Street and King Street are inviting residents and visitors to enjoy a relaxed and festive late-night shopping experience on Friday 19 December, supported by Frome Town Council.
From 5pm – 7pm, King Street will be closed to traffic, and many of the independent shops there and on Cheap Street will remain open to shoppers. Both streets will come alive with festive food and refreshments, music and seasonal activities designed to bring a warm Christmas atmosphere to the heart of Frome.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of treats, including roast chestnuts and Glamorganshire sausages from Frome Wholefoods, mulled wine at La Strada and indulgent hot chocolates at Neighbour. Caribbean food, mocktails, cakes, ice creams and more will also be on offer, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Haunts Curiosity Shoppe will be adding a touch of magic with shopping by lantern light and hands-on perfume-making workshops, while musical entertainment will fill the streets, with a DJ playing Christmas favourites from 6pm and further live music bringing in the festive spirit. Children will also have the chance to send a letter to Father Christmas at Comrade Bear’s Closet, who will host a dedicated Santa’s post box.
Families are encouraged to take part in a special Twelve Days of Christmas trail. Twelve participating shops will each host a unique stamp, and children can collect all twelve on their trail card. Completed cards can then be handed in to enter a draw to win a fabulous Cheap Street and King Street Christmas hamper. The trail aims to help families explore the area and discover the brilliant variety of local businesses.
With extended opening hours, festive flavours, creative activities and a warm community spirit, this late-night shopping evening offers the perfect opportunity to shop locally and enjoy a joyful Christmas atmosphere in the heart of Frome.
