Take Pride in Frome this June 🌈
June marks the third Pride Season for Frome, an annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ people run by the local community. Throughout the month, local businesses, creatives and residents will come together to display their appreciation for the LGBTQIA+ community. Expect a vibrant collection of social events, workshops, performances and more – see below to find out more!
How is Frome celebrating Pride month?
1st June: Frome Pride Youth Day
Frome Pride will be hosting their very first Youth Stage at June’s Independent Market! Including an inspirational line up of performers, speakers and community – all managed by the Frome Pride Youth Production Team. Find them from 11am – 3pm in the Market Place.
Relax at the Frome Pride Youth and Rainbow Families Community Hangout in front of the library, also taking place during the Independent Market. From 9am – 3pm, you can connect with likeminded friends and the community, enjoy family entertainment, with crafts provided by the Sunday Art Club and music from the Frome Pride Youth Village Disco Green.
After the market, all young people are invited to join the fun and celebrations at Frome’s first Pride Youth Afterparty. Head to The Tunnels on Bath Street from 3pm – 7pm for music, soft drinks and lots of fun – tickets are free and can be booked here.
7th June: Rainbow Families Pride Picnic
Join us for a relaxed, family-friendly picnic at Victoria Park! Bring a blanket, some snacks, and enjoy a friendly chat while the kids play nearby, Supportive allies are very welcome too.
Being an LGBTQIA+ family in a world that often assumes straight and cisgender norms can feel lonely at times. This event is all about creating space to connect, share experiences, and build community.
12th June: Fibre Arts Workshop
Explore your creative side with our very own community-hosted Fibre Arts Workshop! Whether a beginner or experienced, everyone is welcomed to this warm and relaxing safe space. Includes crochet, knitting, pompoms needle felting & more.
14th June: Frome Pride Walk
Join the Frome LGBTQIA+ community monthly walk for a joyful walk in the stunning countryside!
Each month we meet at local spots to enjoy a casual stroll to give the opportunity to chat & catch up with friends or make new connections within the community.
15th June: Paint your very own Hockney!
Come to a lovely artist’s studio in West Woodlands and copy a David Hockney landscape with acrylic paint on canvas that you can take home and hang on your wall.
18th June: Explaining being Pan to Nan
‘Generally people prefer the aubergine to the cucumber, Nan. Yes, that is why the others ‘laugh emoji’ your moussaka chat in the family WhatsApp group.’
This stand up / poetry show unpacks explaining your queer identity (non-binary, pansexual) to your 86 year old Nan.
20th June: Frome Pride Wine tasting and Quiz night
Join us for a celebrartion of Frome Pride with a Wine Tasting & Quiz evening!
We will be sampling 5 different wines alongside a general knowledge quiz. Teams are welcome to come along and there will be prizes awarded at the end.
A cheese and charcuterie accompanies this event.
