Roll up, roll up! Children’s Festival is back in town

Children’s Festival by David Chedgy

On Sunday 19th July, local charity Purple Elephant will stage their much-loved celebration of childhood – the Frome Children’s Festival. With the focus on families taking part together, festivities will take place from 10am – 2pm. This year marks the twelfth Children’s Festival in Frome, and entry is free to all attending.

Enjoy over 30 different activities including the opportunity to build dens and have a go at bushcraft, whittling and nature activities. Other outdoor action includes an adventure play area, face painting, decorating (and eating!) delicious biscuits, as well as a visit from Jellyfish Theatre with their show ‘The Dragon Wagon.’

The pump track in Welshmill Park will host BMX workshops and there will be accessible basketball and boccia in the Market Yard, as well as archery, multi-skills sports and inclusive circus skills and hula hooping sessions. Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team will be located on ‘The Other Side’ with their giant climbing wall. For those looking for a more chilled approach, there is a youth club hang-out, a sensory room, a reading tent, a mystical toadstool trail, a children’s yoga session, a baby area and a visit from Twinnies Petting Farm bringing alpacas, mini ponies, pygmy goats, lambs and rabbits.

Inside the Cheese and Grain there will be a huge selection of activities for creative craft-lovers, along with science workshops, Fimo modelling and a glitter tattoo station. In the venue’s professional recording studio, Young People Frome will be helping budding musicians to create and record their own music (sessions bookable at the Information Point outside the Cheese and Grain on arrival).

Purple Elephant will also have specialist support workers on site and fast-pass assistance to children with additional needs.

Please note that whilst this event is free, you will need to book tickets for everyone attending. More information can be found on the Purple Elephant website.
