Lighting of the Valentine’s Lamp

Celebrate Valentine’s Day in the glow of Somerset’s only working gas lamp. Don’t miss this annual celebration at Frome’s most romantic landmark!

5:30pm: A Queen of Hearts rocket will be set off, exploding in a heart shape, to kick off the festivities.

Enjoy some mulled wine, music from accordionist Tom Woolman and dancing from Selwood Bounds Morris Dancers.

6pm: The ceremony will start with a special Valentine cry by the town crier, followed by themed poems from Frome Writers Collective Poets.

Eddie Young, lamplighter since 2025, will light the lamp and read the dedication to Saint Valentine.
