As the autumn approaches, here are some of the events to mark into your schedules! There is something for everyone, whether you are going solo or with the family.
This month is jam packed full of activities and Frome town staples.

3rd September: Frome Collectors and Flea market

Time: 9am – 2pm
Quality second hand goods including a selection of antiques and collectables as well as a mixture of bric-a-brac and jewellery with even the chance of some hidden treasure.
Always worth a rummage!
Grain bar/cafe – also serving food.
6th September: The West End Tenors

Time: 7:30pm – 9pm
Leading men from London’s West End combine in a powerhouse of vocal talent.
After selling out arenas across Europe, The West End Tenors embark on their first UK Tour, bringing their smash hit show directly to you!
The cast of The West End Tenors have starred in musicals such as Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia and Miss Saigon, as well as performing at Windsor Castle for the Royal Family, the BBC Proms and the Eurovision Song Contest.
7th September: The Frome Independent Market

Time: 10am- 3pm
Visitors to the market can find contemporary craft, designer-made homewares, ethical clothing and jewellery in our Designer-Maker section, discover fledgling design start-ups in our Suitcase Sale, have a rummage through vintage nostalgia in our Flea Market or browse indoor plants, gardenalia and homewares in our Homes & Gardens section. Food lovers can discover local produce from cheese and cider to vegan cakes and kimchi. We work with Somerset Farmers Markets who curate a section for farmers, growers and producers. There’s also a huge and vibrant range of street food to choose from including Frome-made sausage-rolls, dim sum, vegan Tibetan Momos and much more besides – all made using the best West Country ingredients.
13th September: Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show

Time: 9am – 5pm
The Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show is a must see annual event, with over 350 trade stands providing a non-stop shopping experience. International as well as local fine food, cheese, crafts and other British produce are showcased.
There’s so much to see and do including the equine and livestock showing, car stunt show, family dog show, falconry display, the music stage, showcasing local talent and of course plenty of food and shopping outlets.

14th September: Cobble Wobble

Save the date! Cobble Wobble returns to Catherine Hill on 14th September.
The ‘World Famous’ cycle hillclimb sprint, up 179 yards of steep, cobbled hill in the heart of Frome, Somerset.
With its narrow streets, 17th-century architecture, and cheering crowds lining every inch of the course, the Cobble Wobble is a spectacle like no other.

19th September: Balancing The Scales

Time: 7pm – 8pm
Frome Town Council and Frome Beaver Watch are proud to bring a screening of the powerful documentary Balancing the Scales by award-winning filmmaker Nina Constable to Frome. A preview of the film, set to be released online in October, will be shown at Frome’s Merlin Theatre on Friday 19th September at 7pm. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Cllr Sara Butler Bartholomew, Dr. Rob Needham, Restoration Manager at Beaver Trust and a key expert featured in the film, alongside local voices including Sophie Ricardo from Frome Beaver Watch and Martin Blain from the Frome & District Angling Association.
20th September: Frome Carnival

Frome Carnival is an exciting annual spectacle with illuminated floats, music, majorettes and more. Anyone can take part in processions, or as a volunteer, and there are loads of prizes given out. The Carnival involves many local groups, including nurseries and schools, the Brownies, theatre groups and street entertainers, and there is a separate Children’s Carnival in the afternoon.
Frome Carnival is a registered charity and raises money every year for local groups and individuals in need.

21st September: Ride Kids Ride

Time: 12pm – 3:30pm
Open to all children under the age of 12yrs.
Come and see how many laps you can achieve in 25 mins on your bicycles, scooters or skateboards.
Parents must be responsible for children’s safety. A free raffle ticket for every lap achieved for a chance to win a voucher for £200 for a bespoke bike and helmet.
£2 entry fee – A medal for every participant and refreshments available.
26th September: Old Songs Launch

Time: 7:30pm – 9pm
Old Songs takes the reader on a journey through Britain’s old songs, with ten eerie and enchanting folkloric tales from traditional ballads, along with their tangled histories.
Please join Amy Jeffs, Gwen Burns and Natalie Brice for the book launch of Old Songs. An evening of stories, song and folklore.
