The route follows the line of “the canal that never was”, eastwards from Coleford. This area was mined for coal both before and after the canal building era, leaving several layers of history to look out for. You need to be happy walking along footpaths that have steep, rough sections and could be muddy. Unsuitable for dogs, but children who like “exploring walks” would be welcome.
