The Mistletoe Bough: A Christmas Ghost Story

Blabbermouth Community Storytelling presents an atmospheric ghost story for Christmas.

Though now largely forgotten, The Mistletoe Bough was once one of Britain’s most popular and familiar Christmas songs. Set during a Christmas wedding, the chilling tale which forms the song’s narrative has versions found across the globe, but is reputed to originate in true events said to have occurred in sixteenth century Wessex. This brand new telling of the story explores the tale’s long history, taking the audience from 1920s New York to Elizabethan England, via the battlefields of the Great War.

Join storyteller and historian Dan Broadbent for a candlelit evening of story, music, history (and mince pies), as he retells the story of the Mistletoe Bough, and explore its eerie origins.

Performance lasts approximately one hour. Suitable for adults and older children.
