The Restless Coast with Roger Morgan-Grenville

Join us for an evening with best-selling author and conservation campaigner Roger Morgan-Grenville as he takes us on a journey around Britain’s coast . . .

Britain has over 10,000 miles of coastline, because of our shape, no one can be more than 45 miles from tidal water. We may see ourselves as land creatures, but we are utterly reliant on the waves around us. Our status as islanders can be defined by the thin line that surrounds us, whose geology and shape we have imprinted ourselves upon. This hopeful and passionate travelogue weaves the present trials the coast faces with the inspiring individuals and projects attempting to preserve it.

At once informative, angry and uplifting, Roger’s journey consisted of almost 2,000 miles of walking, hundreds of buses, trains and ferry trips and the re-adoption of hitchhiking, following a 40-year hiatus, all in the name of exploring coastal counties.

Roger Morgan-Grenville is a writer, speaker and campaigner on conservation, with a particular interest in biodiversity loss and recovery.
