Let’s Lift the Curfew: Solidarity Run

#letsliftthecurfew

What is it? This autumn marks the fourth year of Let’s Lift the Curfew, the national movement from This Girl Can aiming to end the curfew imposed on women by safety fears during darker nights.

When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, millions of women across the UK will once again see their world get smaller as the nights get darker. Safety concerns affect where they go, when they go, who they go with and whether they can be active outdoors at all.

Since launching in 2023, Let’s Lift the Curfew has grown into a nationwide movement. Last year, more than 13,000 people took part in over 390 activities across the country.

Solidarity Run: meet 6:45pm to depart at 7pm on Wednesday 25 November

  • All groups departing from outside the Cheese & Grain. 5k, 5-mile and 10k routes available
  • All welcome (not a women’s only event, and all paces welcome). Please wear bright clothing

Research from This Girl Can shows:

  • 72% of women change their outdoor activity routines during winter
  • 23% avoid certain areas altogether
  • 20% regularly check behind them to see if they’re being followed
  • There are still half a million fewer active women than men
