Join Frome’s Missing Links for an inspiring fundraising talk by Frome’s Jack Greenwood, who will talk about the amazing journey he undertook, cycling the length of South America.
Starting at the southernmost point in the continent, in a chilly Patagonia, he followed the majestic Andes mountain range – and a route taken by Che Guevara in the 1950 in The Motorcycle Diaries – until he reached the sweltering Caribbean coast. Passing through six countries, he immersed himself in the literature, music and culture of the continent.
Jack’s talk The Power of the Pedal will cover the challenges of the journey and the practicalities of the travelling such distances by bike, as well as sharing stories of the people he met. In conversation with his mother, who has also undertaken a number of long distance cycle trips, Jack will discuss how travelling by bike also had a powerful effect on his mental health.
There will be a fundraising bar at the event, which is on Friday 12th September from 7pm at Frome Town Hall. Tickets are available on Eventbrite for £11.55. See www.fromesmissinglinks.org.uk to find out more about the event.
Frome’s Missing Links campaigns for better active travel connections between Frome and its surrounding areas, seeking to link the center of town to traffic-free routes where possible.
