SUMMARY:Village Boys: A Long-Term Mentoring Group
DESCRIPTION:Village Boys is a new weekly mentoring group at The Village Frome for boys aged 8–12. \nLed by Luke and Rob\, the group offers boys the chance to spend regular time with trusted male mentors\, build strong relationships and become part of a community where they are known\, needed and trusted. \nDays are rooted in the land and shaped around practical skills\, real responsibility\, adventure and contribution. The boys will build and make\, use tools\, cook over fire\, grow food\, explore the woods\, care for the land and take on real jobs that matter. \nAs the group develops there will also be adventures\, expeditions and rites of passage\, with the intention that this becomes something the boys grow with over time rather than simply another weekly activity. \nAt the heart of Village Boys is the opportunity for boys to experience healthy masculinity through relationship: spending time alongside good men and seeing how they work\, listen\, lead\, care and contribute. \nThursdays\, 10am–3pm\, term time \nAges 8–12\n£40 per session \nStarting September at The Village\, Frome. \nTo register your interest\, email villagefrome@gmail.com or visit thevillagefrome.co.uk.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Harvest Festival – a vibrant celebration of community\, creativity\, and the changing of the season. \nActivities for All Ages: \nWild Swim and Sauna\nA rare occasion for non-members to try our new wild swimming pool and sauna. 16+ only. \n11:00 – 14:00 Swim and Sauna (8 spaces every hour) \nFun and Games\nAs well as classic lawn games\, our very own Lady V will be hosting a good bit of old fashioned fun on the grass. Welly wanging\, tug of war and a pumpkin lantern competition. All in the name of giggles. \nPumpkin Lanterns\nEveryone loves a pumpkin lantern! Be as creative or traditional as you like and enter the lantern competition judged at the end of the day by Lady V. \nForest School Sessions\nLet the little ones get hands on with some forest crafts. This need to be booked in addition to your festival ticket. \nFeed the Animals\nCome meet the chickens and the sheep at feeding time. On that note\, no dogs please. \nScarecrow Trail\nSet out on a farm adventure to meet all of our scarecrows and learn a bit about their homes along the way. \nStalls & Activities \nOpen Studios\nVisit the our farm makers. Drop in to see their work\, chat about their craft\, and join pop-up workshops throughout the day. \nStorytelling & Live Music\nLet little imaginations run wild with nature based tales and get your toes tapping along to local musicians. \nFood and Drink\nAs always we’ll be championing great food grown/reared locally and homemade here at the farm. Think hearty lamb stew and farm veg soup with a generous slab of locally made breads. We’ll also have snacks like sausage/vegan rolls available at the bar and our ever popular tearooms will be stocked up with delicious teatime treats. \nSee you on the farm!

DESCRIPTION:Come and explore nature in a new way at this Herbalism Walk and Medicine-Making Day led by Elena Tornberg-Lennox. \nYou will discover the history and medicinal uses of plants\, deepening your appreciation and understanding of them and how humans have connected to them throughout time. \nAs we move into autumn\, when the days are cooler and the nights are crisper\, the abundance of the natural world invites us to explore her gifts. So many of the plants we walk past every day have medicinal properties\, with some that might surprise you. Even bramble leaves and the humble nettle offer incredible health benefits\, while haws can support the heart and joints and rosehips contain around 40 times more vitamin C than oranges. \nThroughout the session\, Elena will share her ecological and herbal knowledge as you explore a different way of connecting with nature. Together\, you will walk the land\, identifying medicinal plants\, discussing their uses and learning how to forage for them respectfully. You’ll then enjoy a tasting of wild herbal teas before making your own hedgerow syrup\, created over the firepit\, to take home. \nTimings: \n\n10am: Arrival and welcome\n11.30am: Walk of site\n1pm: Lunch (please bring own)\n2pm: Medicine Making Session over the firepit\n4pm: Session ends\n\nRefreshments will be provided throughout the day \nAbout your guide\, Elena Tornberg-Lennox: \nElena is a herbalist\, ecologist\, storyteller and rewilder\, and loves to help people find ways to connect with the land and nature. Elena believes deeply in finding practical ways to work with the land\, and honouring the natural rhythms and processes of the natural world. \nElena says\, “By learning to work with plants\, we notice more and create a deep connection with the world around us. To be able to name and understand a plant creates a relationship that will last. What we know\, we can protect. Rewilding also needs us to rewild ourselves\, and understand ourselves as a part of nature”.
