DESCRIPTION:Domenic DeCicco\, Michael Ormiston & Candida Valentino will be performing a special concert inspired by our connection to the Earth with music from a selection of their albums. The evening will feature Native American Flutes\, Cretan Laouto\, Mongolian Khöömii Overtone Singing\, Morin Khuur\, Mantra\, Himalayan Singing Bowls\, gongs\, heartfelt songs with acoustic guitar\, Cretan Laouto\, Tongue drum\, Indian Chakra Shlokas and much more. \nDomenic DeCicco is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist\, vocalist and composer/producer\, who has travelled the world sharing his music as a solo artist and as co-founder/lead vocalist of the innovative acoustic roots band\, Praying for the Rain. He is a deeply soulful and compelling musician and storyteller who brings a rich\, uncluttered quality to his music that fills his songs with evocative imagery and lyrical narrative. He will be performing songs from his new album\, Reflections\, as well as from his 2023 Cd\, Earth to Sky and from his 2021 release Never Letting Go. \nMichael Ormiston is the UK’s most experienced Mongolian Khöömii (Overtone) Singer\, a multi-instrumentalist\, composer\, workshop leader and therapeutic sound practitioner. Michael’s Khöömii and overtone/undertone singing can be heard on his many CDs\, Hollywood films\, television documentaries\, theatre and dance productions. Michael is a very skilful\, creative and experienced Tibetan/Himalayan Singing Bowl and Gong player\, using them in performance and meditation. \nCandida Valentino is singer and instrumentalist specialising in Overtone & Undertone Singing\, Mantras\, Bowls\, gongs and is a Kirtan leader and sings Shlokas and Vedic Chants in Sanskrit. Originally trained in visual arts and theatre design. In her early 30’s she discovered the world of Sound Healing\, Mindfulness meditation\, movement through Qigong and Yoga.

DESCRIPTION:Errollyn Wallen — Mighty River\nSergei Prokofiev — Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2\nSergei Rachmaninoff — Symphony No. 2\nWe are delighted to open our 2026-27 season — our 25th anniversary year — with this wonderful concert of colour\, drama and Russian romance. \nErrollyn Wallen’s Mighty River opens the concert with a work of striking colour and emotional weight\, composed to mark the bicentenary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade. Weaving fragments of the hymn “Amazing Grace” through a richly orchestrated soundscape\, it moves from darkness towards hope and resolution. \nProkofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 draws some of the ballet’s most powerful scenes into the concert hall\, from the menace of the “Montagues and Capulets” to the tenderness of the balcony scene and the tragedy of Tybalt’s death. Prokofiev’s gift for vivid\, theatrical orchestration makes this music as gripping without the dancers as with them. \nThe evening closes with Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2\, a work of sweeping Romantic melody and deep emotional currents. (£60) \nFor the final concert in the series\, Frome Concert group are thrilled to bring you two well established ensembles in an exciting collaboration. The beautiful\, clear voices of Fair Oriana join forces with Chelys Consort of Viols to bring A Musical Menagerie\, Renaissance\, Jacobean and Stuart songs and instrumental pieces that feature animals. There are madrigals about shepherdesses and their sheep\, sacred pieces that include a serpent and a dragon\, and a couple of lovely songs by Dowland in his 400th anniversary year. \nChelys have garnered a reputation for their faithful yet fresh interpretations of the consort repertoire. The members of Chelys are among the UK’s leading exponents of the viol\, particularly as a consort instrument\, and their consort viols are strung entirely in gut (not strings overwound with metal)\, which lends them a particularly distinctive sound. Specialist early music sopranos Angela Hicks and Penelope Appleyard formed Fair Oriana in 2019\, and\, together with their instrumental colleagues\, mix historical music with entertaining staging\, contemporary influences and\, varying genres such as folk\, jazz and cross-over.
