DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert on the first Thursday of each month (Feb-Dec) at 1.15pm at Christ Church: informal feel-good music events with a pop-up café open from c12.45pm where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes and listen to live music. \nJanuary’s programme is ‘Roots’ – a selection of music by composers of African origin\, including Joseph Bologne (Chevalier de St Georges)\, who was a contemporary of Mozart\, English composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor\,  and Americans Florence Price\, William Grant Still and Margaret Bonds. Their life stories are as fascinating as their music. \nConcerts last c45mins and entrance is by donation. SUMMARY:Wassail
DESCRIPTION:The fourth annual Weylands Wassail is set to take place on Sunday 8th February from 1:30pm to 3:30pm\, in the community orchard at Weylands. From 1:30pm onwards\, a ‘village green’ event will offer family-friendly craft activities\, making willow crowns and wassail sticks. Hot mulled cider and apple juice will ward off the cold. The wassail ceremony will start at 2:30pm\, led by performers Annabelle Macfadyen and Simon Blakeman and everyone will be invited to join them in making noise to ‘wake the orchard’ and ‘toast the trees’ (full instructions provided). Frome Street Bandits will round off the day with a rousing musical performance until 3:30pm.
