SUMMARY:Dual Natures Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Dual Natures brings together the paintings of Hannah Thomas and Genevieve Leavold in an exhibition that examines the duality inherent in both the natural world and human experience. Rooted in these tensions\, the exhibition explores the interplay between emotional and physical states\, conscious and unconscious impulses\, and the subjectivity of interpretation and visceral response in an audience. \nHannah Thomas’ practice is driven by an investigation into moral ambiguity and humanity’s conflicted relationship with nature. Through a semi-abstracted process\, with recurring potent motifs\, the resulting landscapes pulse with hints of predation. Through this lens\, nature is presented as a site of constant movement and adaptation\, where beauty and violence co-exist and identity remains unstable. \nGenevieve Leavold is predominantly known for her freeform\, organic paintings\, her reverence for spontaneous gesture draws from Zen\, Buddhism\, and other philosophies that embrace the concept of universal consciousness. Her approach is immediacy; working wet colour into wet and layering glazes gives her work its recognisable softness and movement.. Characterised by sweeping forms emerging from a dark background\, her paintings developed from observations of nature in man-made environments. \nBoth artists have paintings in collections in the UK and abroad and have exhibited extensively worldwide. \nDual Natures invites viewers to reflect on the contradictions that shape our understanding of self and environment\, and on the uneasy balance between attraction and repulsion that defines humanity’s relationship with the natural world. \nBoth artists have work held in private and corporate collections worldwide and have exhibited widely in the UK\, US and Europe. \nPrivate View: Thursday 26th February 5pm – 9pm\nArtist Talk: Saturday 28th Feb 10am (45mins) Ticketed £5\nExhibition Opening Hours: 11am – 6pm

SUMMARY:Chloe Foy – Live At The Tree House
DESCRIPTION:With her strikingly beautiful voice and emotionally direct songwriting\, Chloe Foy has a penchant for finding magic in the spaces between light and dark. Growing up in the quiet of the English countryside\, it was through music that she first learned how to express the nuance of emotion. Her songs are a reflection of that stillness\, woven with threads of vulnerability and longing. Her lyrics speak to the complexity of the human experience — love\, loss\, and the subtle daily battles we all fight. With a voice that’s as delicate as it is powerful\, she creates music that speaks to the heart. \nChloe Foy introduced herself to the world with her 2021 debut\, Where Shall We Begin. A rich and meticulously put together debut\, the album received rave reviews from the likes of The Sunday Times\, Clash and The Line of Best Fit. Tracks from the album regularly featured on BBC 6 Music\, with support coming from Guy Garvey and Radcliffe & Maconie. With the album charting in the UK Folk Chart Top 40\, Chloe truly cemented herself as an artist that flies the flag for the independent singer-songwriter with skill and finesse. \nChloe’s anticipated follow up Complete Fool\, due 6th June via Kartel Music Group\, captures a deepened\, richer sound; merging rock-tinged folk with classic strings and layered vocals that she is becoming known for. \nComplete Fool explores real love and puts a microscope to the finer details of what it means to love long-term. The album isn’t afraid to ask difficult questions. What is the cost of a long-term relationship? How do you balance divergent ambitions and priorities? Do we lose parts of ourselves in the process of falling in love? The answer lies in this beautiful\, poignant\, yet celebratory tribute to real life and real love. \nWhere Shall We Begin Album Reviews: \n“8/10 – It’s rare that an album is ten years in the making\, and honing that much emotion and experience into roughly 41 minutes is a monumental task. Chloe Foy accomplished it.” CLASH Magazine \n“9/10 – 10 years in the making\, it’s certainly been worth the wait.” – Gigwise \n“9/10 – A charming body of work\, Where Shall We Begin is a must listen”– The Line of Best Fit \n“7/10 – A collection of great intimacy and tenderness” – Uncut \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift.
