DESCRIPTION:Frome Town Hall is showing 2000 Meters to Andriivka on Friday 19th June at 7pm to mark Refugee Week 2026. \nHosted by the Welcome Hub for displaced people\, the evening is open to everyone and aims to bring people together for an evening of film and reflection. \nThe award-winning 2000 Meters to Andriivka explores the human experience of war and its impact on individuals and communities\, offering insight into the realities faced by people affected by conflict and displacement. The screening aims to encourage greater understanding. empathy and connection. \nAfter the screening\, there will be an opportunity for informal discussion for those who would like to stay and share reflections with others. \nTickets for the documentary are available for a suggested donation of £3\, with proceeds supporting Frome Welcome Refugees\, a volunteer-led community group supporting refugees and displaced people through practical help\, friendship\, advocacy and activities that help people feel welcomed and connected in Frome. DESCRIPTION:A Pilgrimage through the Sacred\, Ritual Landscape of White Sheet Hill to align with the energies of the sun at it’s zenith. \nAway from the bustle of Stonehenge\, enjoy a peaceful and uplifting Solstice celebration with an experienced Druid Ceremonialist. \nRooted in the ancient ritual landscape\, we will walk in the footsteps of the ancestors. \nExpect Pilgrim practices – moments of silent contemplation\, singing and chanting\, for example. \nWhilst led by an experienced Druid Ceremonialist\, this is an inclusive walk\, welcoming of all faiths and none. If you wish to step aside and quietly observe rather than take part\, please feel free to do so… \nWhat is the difference between a Walk and a Pilgrimage? Primarily\, it is about intention: walking the old tracks becomes a spiritual act when walked with intention – by doing so we help to preserve and strengthen those ancient songlines…….the Earth re-awakens to our heartfelt care\, and we are healed in return. \nStarting at the Neolithic enclosures of White Sheet Hill\, we will discuss the relevance of this important archaeological feature and how it relates to the wider ritual landscape. \nWe will continue on through species rich grassland\, abundant in Orchids\, to the source of the River Wylye\, revered as a Goddess by both the ancients and modern Druids. \nOur circular route will bring beautiful and far reaching views\, and more archaeological and ritual features – Bronze Age Barrow Cemeteries\, Neolithic Settlements\, and an Iron Age Hillfort. \nA Roman road will take us back to our start point\, where we will hold a short ceremony at sunset to open the Vigil Observance- where traditionally people sleep- fast\, staying awake in meditation and contemplation to greet the Solstice sunrise. To end our ceremony participants will be offered a tipple of specially crafted Mead (‘The drink of the Gods and the Druids’ – made with Meadowsweet and Mugwort\, Chalice Well and White Spring water) or Apple Juice\, and we will break bread (or cake!) before returning home. \n*Please note that whilst we hope for the beautiful weather and glorious sunset of previous years\, the weather can’t be guaranteed and this Pilgrimage will proceed regardless of the weather.

DESCRIPTION:Jim Ghedi hails from Sheffield\, South Yorkshire and although clearly well versed in the history of folk music\, he stands out as a potential torch bearer for a new generation of respectful yet experimental performers. \nAs his music develops away from his previous records ‘A Hymn for Ancient Land’ (2018) & ‘In the Furrows of Common Place’ (2021) released on Basin Rock record label and his collaborative duo records with welsh guitarist Toby Hay released on Topic Records (2023)\, his sound emulates a more brooding\, dark and electronic world which is mirrored in his piercing lyrics and singing. DESCRIPTION:Come along and learn more about nature-led recovery at Heal’s first rewilding site\, Heal Somerset.\nHeal Somerset began its recovery from its ecologically depleted state at the beginning of 2023 and nature here is already beginning to bounce back. This tour is a unique opportunity to spend time with Heal’s co-founder and acting CEO\, Jan Stannard\, who will take you around part of our beautiful site on mown paths. \nYou will learn more around the wider context of rewilding\, including the reasons we need it and the benefits it brings to nature\, the climate and to our own wellbeing. Jan will talk about the rewilding principles that Heal follows and give you an insight into some of our plans for the land\, particularly the interventions we’re considering and our plans for future livestock introductions. The group will also hear about some of the changes we have seen on the site already\, including the very welcome appearance of wild-living beavers. \nYou will also hopefully experience some of the varied wildlife we have on site\, but even if the creatures are elusive on the day\, we know you will still find the site a beautiful\, peaceful and restorative place to be. \nYour tour will finish with refreshments in our 17th century farmhouse where conversations about rewilding and Heal can continue.

DESCRIPTION:Come and spend an enjoyable day learning how to make corn dollies. \nWe will look at and discuss images and examples\, and then start learning some simple plaits and techniques\, which can be quite meditative to do! Everyone should create a couple of dollies to take away with them at the end of the day. \nClass size will be limited to a maximum of 8 people\, to ensure that everyone gets plenty of individual attention. \nThe course costs £65\, which includes full tuition\, all materials\, use of tools\, and tea\, coffee and homemade cake mid morning. You will need to bring lunch\, or treat yourself to something from Loud Mouth cafe on site. \nThis workshop is an introduction to corn dolly making\, and is suitable for beginners and improvers. \nTutor Rebecca Board has over twenty years experience of making baskets in a variety of natural materials\, and teaching her craft. Expect a gentle walk through our forest garden and local woodland to see what plants we can forage and grow to improve our gut biome. You’ll be getting your hands in the soil and learning how there are direct links between our interactions with the earth\, our food and our happiness. \nWe will then enjoy a super healthy and delicious lunch together before learning how to make ferments both for ourselves and our gardens.
