DESCRIPTION:Thursday 21st May\, 7pm\, Frome Town Hall (in association with Winstone’s Books) \nWhen Catrin Osborne\, a multidisciplinary artist born in Trowbridge\, experienced menopause and it hit her “like a ton of bricks”\, she decided to find out what other women going through it were experiencing. \nHer quest took 3 years\, travelling all over the UK and asking people about the positives and negatives of this time in their lives. \nThe result was an exhibition which toured the UK with portraits and interviews\, and is now a photography book with stories from the women – in their words – published by Black Dog Press. \nIt acknowledges the first-hand experiences of 80 women and people who are experiencing menopause. All too often misunderstood by doctors and society\, they share their first-hand accounts of physical and mental symptoms\, of shame and isolation\, but also of discovery\, strength and newfound freedom. \n“Visionary and just bad ass” Shaena – participant. DESCRIPTION:Prompted by regular Mojo Mover Jayne James’ recent appearance on The Repair Shop\, and\, as part of the wider Frome Connects project\, this special session will have a playlist shaped by songs that remind us of people we love and miss.\nJayne appeared on the BBC1 show with her childhood teddy bear – a small companion with an extraordinary story.\nThe bear was originally given to her mum\, Betty\, a nurse at St Martin’s Hospital in Bath\, in 1960 by Hollywood songwriter Sharon Sheeley\, shortly after she survived the car crash that tragically killed her boyfriend\, rock ’n’ roll legend Eddie Cochran.\nAt the time\, Betty was pregnant\, and the bear was passed on to baby Jayne\, becoming a lifelong companion.\nJayne lost her mum last year\, and her story led us to think about how powerfully music can hold memories. Our initial idea was to create a rock ’n’ roll special featuring the music of Eddie Cochran\, but we decided instead to open it up – inviting all participants to share songs that hold personal meaning.\nYou’re very welcome to send in a song – just please do so at least one week in advance\, as we’ll be choreographing any new tracks ahead of time.\nThere will still be all the usual Mojo Moves energy\, warmth and connection – just with an added layer of meaning.\nProceeds will go to a charity of Jayne’s choice.

Who we are being because of our energy is what attracts the world we experience\, and that is huge. \nWe are taught to manage our homes with logic\, lists\, and “doing” (Masculine Energy). But when you mother from this place 24/7\, your relationship with your partner becomes a transaction\, and your relationship with yourself becomes a chore. We need a healthy balance of the masculine and feminine to thrive\, and for each person this balance will be totally unique. \nUnderstanding these energies and how we can consciously shift between them brings us back in touch with ourselves as women\, as well as adding rocket fuel to being able to mother in a way that feels connected and satisfying. \nThis is deeply powerful stuff in all areas of life\, and yet no one is talking about it.
