DESCRIPTION:Boubacar Samake\, son of the late Malian music legend Sibiri Samake\, carries forward the deep spiritual tradition of Mali’s donso (hunter) music — a lineage of ritual melodies and rhythms played for courage\, healing\, and connection to the natural world. A virtuoso of the ngoni\, the plucked lute at the heart of donso music\, Boubacar is also one half of electro-afro innovators Siraba. He performs in this new line-up with Louis Campbell (electric guitar\, from alt-folk duo Spafford Campbell)\, Ben Nicholls (bass) and master percussionist Seydou Kienou from Burkina Faso\, whose djembe\, calabash and karagnan bring a visceral\, ancient pulse. Together they reframe this ancestral sound in a hypnotic\, blues-tinged dialogue that bridges West African tradition and modern experimentation. \nAloka is a young singer-songwriter from London but now living in Bristol. Growing up surrounded by music\, Aloka has been inspired from a young age to take up singing. She has carved out a unique sound\, drawing inspiration from neo-soul\, dub\, hip-hop and jazz. These artists will share the stage with Eliza\, honouring and celebrating Martin’s immense legacy and musical back catalogue. \nThis evening will present a rolling cast of admirers\, colleagues and surprise guests\, performing an entirely new set featuring some of Martin’s best loved work from all eras of his career\, spanning from his debut to final albums\, via Waterson:Carthy and beyond. \nMartin Carthy is a legendary ballad singer and guitarist who has influenced generations of artists\, including Bob Dylan and Paul Simon\, while Eliza has been twice-nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and a multiple-award winner at the BBC Radio Two Folk awards. \nIn recognition of his illustrious career Martin was recently shortlisted for the 2025 Mercury Prize for his wonderful new solo record Transform Me Then Into A Fish. This album both marked his 84th birthday in May 2025\, and offered a full circle moment in his music journey as he revisited material from his very first (eponymous) solo record released in 1965. \nSupport will be provided by Martha Tilston\, featuring a beautiful original set. Or if you’d prefer to play manhunt in the forest garden? You can do that too. This is a group for anyone who wants to spend more time outdoors\, maybe learning about nature if that’s your thing\, but no pressure. As long as you’re yourself\, that’s what counts. We want EVERYBODY OUTDOORS! \nWe have some spaces available at a reduced rate for those on a low wage and are reserving limited spaces for free to enable this to be for everyone for real so if your child wants this but you can’t make it happen\, then maybe we can. You will be guided through several rounds of mindful meditation and there will be time for a chat at the end. \nThese sessions run monthly\, either in Frome or online. DESCRIPTION:This youth club is suitable for those aged 14 – 16. \nJoin us at the farm for fire building\, pond dipping\, tree planting\, creating wildlife habitats\, checking for snakes (yes\, we have snakes) or whatever you want to do that day. If the sun is shining and you want just enjoy it then do! If you want to hang out in the orchard with the sheep\, building dens and bug hotels we can do that too. \nThis is a place where you get to decide. The important thing is to be outdoors\, enjoying time together. \nWe meet every Wednesday during term time 5-6.30pm. We can only accept bookings for a term at a time. This term starts on Wednesday 10th June and the last session is on Wednesday 15th July. There are seven sessions in the summer term. Sorry\, no one off bookings. \nWe do however\, want EVERYBODY OUTDOORS so we have limited spaces available at a discount for those on a low wage.
