SUMMARY:Award Winning Films from the 2026 Frome International Climate Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:THE FILM ROOM – COMMUNITY CINEMA\, supporting new and current filmmakers locally and from around the world\, because everyone should have a voice. Non mainstream cinema which matters. \n23rd September Films\nFILM 1 – OBRONI WAWU – DEAD MAN’S CLOTHES: Obroni Wawu\, meaning “dead white man’s clothes”\, follows Ghanaian creatives and traders as they confront the environmental and social toll of second hand clothing dumped from the Global North.\nFILM 2 – SAURY SEAWEED: The Korean Peninsula is a land where the Cold War never died. As oceans warm\, the southern survival limit of a mythic marine plant is relentlessly retreating north. The species is vanishing from the South. \n21st October Films\nFILM 1 – A FOOD STORY: There is a place in Tenerife where humans and animals sustain themselves with a simple yet extraordinary resource: food waste. They collect\, segregate\, cook\, store\, and create compost from it\, by sustaining up to 40 people and 400 animals each day using just the waste from a single supermarket\nFILM 2 – INTO THE WILD: INTO THE WILD explores the American West and its unique ecosystems\, where iconic species such as mustangs and coyotes are under threat. Alongside zoologist Yvan Kereun\, the film blends science\, Indigenous knowledge\, and conservation practices \n18th November Films\nFILM 1 – WHEN SOLAR LIGHTS UPON THE COMMUNITY: In a timeworn community in Shanghai\, a group of Green Housewives has turned the neighbourhood into a stage for renewable energy. When solar lights upon the community\, the players step forward: a mother of three who studied renewable power in Scandinavia; an artist who creates gallery-worthy sculptures with the community from recyclables; China’s first household-solar pioneer; a high-schooler who runs the community garden’s irrigation on renewable energy.\nFILM 2 – WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD WILDLIFE IN THE CITY: The city is like a living organism. Healthy and in perfect balance\, it can make its inhabitants happy\, people as well as animals and plants. If it gets out of balance\, it becomes ill and with it all the creatures that live in it. It is a valuable habitat for animals such as hedgehogs\, rhinoceros beetles and swallowtails. But cities are under pressure. \n16th December Films\nFILM 1 – ROOTED IN RESILIENCE: In an economy often built on extraction\, the women in Rooted in Resilience offer a powerful alternative built on reciprocity. This documentary captures the journey of Indigenous entrepreneurs who treat the land as a relative rather than a resource.\nFILM 2 – WASTED 2025: Wasted prompts us to re-examine who we are and our values — to re-think our relationship with the world around us. We cannot continue to extract and exploit our ecosystems at unprecedented rates and continue down the path of wasting our precious natural resources. We want to inspire action across business\, policy and individuals to clean up our communities\, cities and natural habitats and create healthy\, thriving economies.

SUMMARY:Village Boys: A Long-Term Mentoring Group
DESCRIPTION:Village Boys is a new weekly mentoring group at The Village Frome for boys aged 8–12. \nLed by Luke and Rob\, the group offers boys the chance to spend regular time with trusted male mentors\, build strong relationships and become part of a community where they are known\, needed and trusted. \nDays are rooted in the land and shaped around practical skills\, real responsibility\, adventure and contribution. The boys will build and make\, use tools\, cook over fire\, grow food\, explore the woods\, care for the land and take on real jobs that matter. \nAs the group develops there will also be adventures\, expeditions and rites of passage\, with the intention that this becomes something the boys grow with over time rather than simply another weekly activity. \nAt the heart of Village Boys is the opportunity for boys to experience healthy masculinity through relationship: spending time alongside good men and seeing how they work\, listen\, lead\, care and contribute. \nThursdays\, 10am–3pm\, term time \nAges 8–12\n£40 per session \nStarting September at The Village\, Frome. \nTo register your interest\, email villagefrome@gmail.com or visit thevillagefrome.co.uk.

SUMMARY:Frome Drama Club: Seasons Greetings
DESCRIPTION:Cheating at snakes and ladders\, fighting over comic books\, a bungled infidelity beneath the tree… \nYes\, Christmas has arrived in the Bunker household along with family and friends! But it’s the adults\, not the children\, who are letting the side down. Presiding over the festivities are two warring uncles\, one a kindly\, incompetent doctor with a puppet show to perform; the other a retired security guard who dominates the TV and buys toy guns for his nieces. \nArriving at the Merlin in time for festive season\, this seriously comic classic offers a hilarious look at the strains and high jinks of an average family Christmas. \nRunning time: 120 minutes including interval\nAll Tickets: £16 | Concession: £10

SUMMARY:Wild Circle
DESCRIPTION:Wild Circle is a women’s group in nature -women sharing honest conversation around a fire\, in a beautiful garden setting.\nNo pressure or expectation\, just a warm welcome and a gentle invitation to take a pause from everyday life and create a little breathing space. \n“Tara made me feel very welcome and relaxed\, I felt completely at ease. I would highly recommend.” -Jo- \n“It was just what I wanted\, a real ‘firebreak’ in a busy life. Thank you for allowing us to develop what we did in our own way\, whilst gently guiding and holding the session. I think the choice to stay in the ’embrace’ of the wooden structure worked well\, and I found the time by the fire warming in body and spirit. And great cake too.” -Beverly- \nFridays 10am – 11:30am\, monthly at Vallis Farm

SUMMARY:David Ford: Songbook – Live at the Tree House
DESCRIPTION:David Ford’s Songbook tour is a stripped-back\, intimate evening built around 25 years of songwriting. Part live set\, part storytelling\, he revisits the songs that have shaped his career\, sharing the moments and influences behind them along the way. It’s a relaxed\, engaging show—just Ford\, the songs\, and the stories\, moving easily between raw\, powerful performances and quieter\, more reflective moments\, with plenty of warmth and humour throughout. \nThe tour accompanies the release of a special career-spanning retrospective double vinyl\, bringing together some of the standout songs from his catalogue. Featuring a mix of updated recordings and remastered originals\, it’s Ford’s own selection of his most important work\, compiled in one place for the first time\, and the live show offers a chance to hear those songs as they were meant to be experienced\, up close and in the moment. Don’t miss it.

There will also be a book signing after the event. \nNo One You Know: Dave Rowntree’ s Early Blur Photos”  is edited by journalist/author/broadcaster Miranda Sawyer. \nThe 200+ page hardback book is a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into the earliest years of Blur from a man who saw it all\, heard it all\, and lived out every moment of it. The book captures the excitement of a young band in their infancy\, becoming a global concern. SUMMARY:Beaver moon dusk walk with Nick Patel
DESCRIPTION:Join us at dusk as the November Beaver Moon rises over Heal Somerset’s wetlands. As daylight fades and the natural world shifts from the bustle of day to the quiet rhythms of night\, join us for a peaceful and immersive dusk walk through the rewilding landscapes of Heal Somerset. \nGuided by wildlife expert Nick Patel\, this gentle evening stroll invites you to tune into the changing sounds of nature — from the last songs of daytime birds to the emerging calls of owls and the fluttering presence of bats overhead. You’ll learn to identify bird calls and evening wildlife behaviours\, while also keeping an eye out for more hidden wonders like spiders spinning their webs and the emergence of late-season fungi among the undergrowth. \nThis is also a magical time to witness more elusive creatures such as foxes and of course beavers who are particularly busy in November getting their lodge and dams ready for the Winter. \nAs the walk draws to a close\, if weather allows we’ll gather around the fire pit to enjoy hot chocolate\, sharing reflections on the evening and the stories of rewilding that continue to unfold across the site. \nThis will be a gentle\, grounding way to end your day. \nAbout your guide\, Nick Patel: \nNick is a tour guide\, conservationist\, naturalist and birder and is passionate about helping to protect\, create and maintain British wildlife. A lifelong Birdwatcher\, and former Nature reserve Warden\, Nick has devoted his life to shouting about how amazing our native biodiversity is and just why we should care for it. \nNick says “Having led tours here at Heal Somerset for two years now\, I’ve witnessed first-hand the speed at which nature has already made a comeback. I’m super passionate about showing everyone who visits the site the wealth of wildlife bouncing back\, including some really beautiful species and fabulous rewilding habitats.”
