DESCRIPTION:Charles Dowding is coming to The Village Frome for a special two-hour workshop on no dig growing. \nFor more than 40 years\, Charles has been exploring how we can grow healthy\, abundant food while disturbing the soil as little as possible. His no dig approach is rooted in a simple idea: feed the soil from the surface with compost and organic matter\, then allow its extraordinary web of life to do the work beneath. \nDuring this workshop\, Charles will share the foundations of no dig growing\, including how to create and maintain productive beds\, work with compost\, manage weeds and grow more food with less time and effort. \nWhether you have an allotment\, a vegetable patch\, a community garden or simply the beginnings of an idea\, this workshop will offer practical knowledge and encouragement for growers at every stage. \nAt The Village\, we are creating a place where people can gather\, learn and rebuild a relationship with the land and with one another. We are delighted to welcome Charles to share his experience as our own community growing spaces continue to take root. \nWith support from The National Lottery Community Fund\, we are able to offer tickets on a sliding scale of £3\, £6 or £9. Please pay what you can. Every ticket helps us continue growing The Village and creating more opportunities for people to learn\, gather and connect with the land. \nPlaces are limited and advance booking is essential. Choose a community camera ticket before the event and we can bring one along for you\, loaded with film and ready to go. \nThe event is free\, but please kindly book a ticket so we know you’ll be there! \nAbout Fromography\nFromography is a non-profit project focused on breaking down barriers to film photography. We’re a welcoming\, inclusive community for all analogue photographers and anyone who wishes to experiment and play with darkroom processes and printing.\nWe currently run monthly social events and photo walks\, and are working towards an accessible\, sustainable community darkroom\, aka “The Dark Frome”. DESCRIPTION:Frome Storytelling Circle is a monthly local group for practicing the art of traditional oral storytelling in a friendly\, relaxed setting. \nThe shapes of the stories may be old\, but the behaviours they describe and the lessons they teach are as common and as applicable nowadays as they ever were. Each teller has their own style and their own tone and they tell a given story in their own way. \nWe welcome all sorts of stories told from memory: folktales\, fairy tales\, myths\, legends\, contemporary and personal. Stories should be limited to 10 minutes\, and there is no need to book a slot in advance. \nAll tellers are welcome\, from experienced yarn spinners to newcomers who would like to have a try at this oldest art. \nListeners are very welcome – what is a story without an audience? There is no pressure to tell a story\, and we love welcoming good listeners into the space. \nAttendance is free\, though we welcome cash donations on the night to help cover the cost of room hire and poster printing. \nFrome Storytelling Circle is hosted and organised by Bridget\, Lesley\, Mike\, Ruth and Steph. We meet upstairs in The Three Swans pub – so grab a drink at the bar\, come up and join us.

The band quickly began to combine everything we all love about 1990s/2000s punk rock with classic and hit songs like you’ve never heard before. From the epic-ness of Meat Loaf to the soaring power of a Disney ballad\, nothing is off limits to them. \nPunk Rock Factory rehearse\, write\, record\, mix\, and film everything themselves in their studio called ‘The Sausage Factory’ with a heavy focus on digital content. With an online following of almost a million fans spread across the world’s most popular social media platforms (TikTok making up a huge 500k of those) they show no signs of slowing down. They frequently bring friends along to their music to enjoy the fun and to date the band has had guest performances from members of acts such as Protest the Hero\, Bowling for Soup\, Ice Nine Kills\, Mest\, Rufio\, Ten Foot Pole\, Zebrahead aswell as Encanto star Jessica Darrow and many more. \nShortly after the success of their first album ‘The Wurst Is Yet To Come’ the band got to work on their second album ‘A Whole New Wurst’ in 2020 throughout UK lockdown. Consisting entirely of Disney classics with their unique punk rock twist it became an instant success. In only two months the album gained over 2.4 million streams and reached #48 in the UK album download charts. \nNow with four albums\, their first ever live show (a festival appearance at Bloodstock Open Air to a capacity crowd of 7000 people) under their belts\, PRF set out on their first UK tour. It holds space for friendship\, confidence\, creativity and the beginnings of those important conversations about growing up. \nThis half-term session is also a chance for us to explore whether there is interest in a regular after-school\, weekend or school-holiday group for boys who cannot attend on Thursdays. \nPlaces are limited and booking is essential.

DESCRIPTION:Frome residents are in for a Halloween treat as a spooktacular drone show from local company Celestial comes to the Old Showfield on Thursday 29 October. \nRunning from 6pm to 8pm\, the event will feature a Halloween-themed performance from the Frome-based drone specialists\, who recently wowed millions of viewers as runners-up on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent 2026. \nCelestial is a world-leading drone light show and entertainment technology company headquartered locally. Pioneers in aerial storytelling\, the team use a fleet of more than 1\,000 synchronised LED drones to create breathtaking animations\, characters and optical illusions in the night sky. \nGates open at 6pm\, where before the main event\, food and drink vendors will be serving up delicious hot food\, refreshments\, sweet treats and more\, and there will be entertainment for all the family. \nEssential event information\n\nPlease note that tickets have now sold out. Some tickets may become available due to cancellations – you’re welcome to check back regularly to see if there are any available.\nPlease only come to this event if you have a ticket.\nThere will be no re-entry allowed to the event.\nThere is strictly no parking at this event. Blue badge parking has sold out – please email engage@frometowncouncil.gov.uk to be added to a waiting list.\nPlease do not bring dogs to this event. It will be dark\, crowded and noisy.\nPlease be aware that there are scary elements of the show due to the Halloween theme\, and the soundtrack will be loud.
