SUMMARY:Village Boys: A Long-Term Mentoring Group
DESCRIPTION:Village Boys is a new weekly mentoring group at The Village Frome for boys aged 8–12. \nLed by Luke and Rob\, the group offers boys the chance to spend regular time with trusted male mentors\, build strong relationships and become part of a community where they are known\, needed and trusted. \nDays are rooted in the land and shaped around practical skills\, real responsibility\, adventure and contribution. SUMMARY:Crime Tea With Peter James
DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for a special ‘Crime Tea’ event – pairing one of the UK’s finest crime fiction authors with an indulgent cream tea! \nWe are thrilled to be welcoming Peter James as our first Crime Tea author. Peter James is a multimillion bestselling author of crime and thriller novels and creator of the much‑loved Detective Superintendent Roy Grace. \nTo celebrate the release of James’s latest installment in the Roy Grace series – Dead in Three Two One – we are hosting a very special author event complete with an afternoon tea of scones with cream and jam\, and your choice of tea or coffee. \nAbout the Book\nBrighton is celebrating. A killer is waiting. And Roy Grace is the target . . . \nBrighton Pride is the biggest date on the city’s calendar with half a million people lost in the party. But behind the opulent façade of the Royal Courteney Hotel\, a nightmare is checking in. Dritan Dervishi\, the cold-blooded consigliere for Albanian mob boss Roel Albazi\, has arrived with a beautiful woman on his arm and a lethal secret in his suitcase. \nHe has specifically requested Room 321 – a room with a perfect view of the sea\, and a deadly proximity to a target he’s been dreaming of for years. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is already pushed to the limit\, coordinating the city’s massive security operation amid whispers of a potential terrorist attack. But the threat is more personal than he could ever imagine. \nBack in a prison cell\, his old nemesis Albazi is counting down the seconds to a revenge that will not just take Roy’s life\, but erase his entire bloodline. And as Roy and his wife Cleo prepare for a night of celebration at the Royal Courteney\, they have no idea that they are stepping into a deadly trap. As the relentless countdown nears zero\, Roy must outsmart an invisible enemy and protect his loved ones before their time finally runs out. \nAbout the Author\nPraised by critics and much-loved by crime and thriller fans\, Peter James has won more than 40 awards for his work – including the WHSmith Best Crime Author of All Time Award and the Crime Writers’ Association Diamond Dagger. His books have sold over 23 million copies worldwide\, achieved 21 Sunday Times No.1s\, and have been translated into 38 languages. \nAbout the Event\nArrive from 1.30pm and take a seat to enjoy a delicious cream tea (scone\, cream and jam\, and a choice of tea and coffee). The author talk itself will begin at 2pm – with Peter James in conversation with longtime friend (and Frome author)\, Felice Hardy. Books will be available to purchase at the event\, or at a slight discount if you select the Book & Ticket option.

SUMMARY:Northcote – Live at the Tree House
DESCRIPTION:From the frozen highways of Canada to massive festival stages around the world\, Northcote has built a reputation as one of modern folk-punk’s most commanding and road-worn voices\, and this October\, he’s bringing that raw grit and soul to Frome. \nNorthcote is the musical project of Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Goud\, known for his heartfelt songwriting and dynamic live performances. Since launching in 2008\, Northcote has toured internationally\, performing alongside artists such as The Gaslight Anthem\, Frank Turner\, Hot Water Music and many more while building a loyal fanbase across North America and Europe. \nIn 2026\, Northcote is set to release To Cherish\, a full-length album recorded at Rain City Studios in Vancouver and produced by Jesse Gander (Japandroids\, White Lung). The project showcases an evolved sound with contributions from a talented ensemble of musicians including Paul Rigby (Neko Case) and long-time collaborator Stephen McGillvray. \nNorthcote has released seven studio albums and multiple singles\, steadily growing an audience through powerful\, emotionally resonant performances in intimate venues and major festivals alike. With over 42\,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and a strong social media presence\, Northcote continues to expand his reach\, aiming for a sustainable international career while contributing meaningfully to the music community. \nSpecial guest Tom Jenkins ended 2025 as the BBC Radio Wales Artist of Year in recognition of his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘When The Coal Dust Settled’ a concept album on working class Wales and the oppression of mining communities\, inspired by his family of coal miners and hill farmers. \nAs word of this album spread\, it would gain praise State Side giving him the honour of being the first ever Welsh Artist to open for Willie Nelson at his Ranch in Texas. \nA story like no other\, Jenkins cut his teeth as traveling shepherd / Sheep shearer\, and rancher\, writing his debut album in the New Zealand outback. ‘Misery In Comfort’ was tracked in Fort Worth\, Texas and released in 2019 gaining him instant recognition from Oscar and Grammy winning singer song-writer\, Ryan Bingham\, who invited him on his tour of Ireland and the UK\, before the album came out. \nNow with four albums under his belt in 5 years\, his back catalogue holds a broad mix of sounds\, somewhere between alternative\, Indie-folk with a splash of country\, collaborating with the likes of the late\, Phil Campbell of Motörhead and Marc Ford of The Black Crowes in various expansive album projects. The variation in sound has led to tours and support Slots with the likes of Bastille\, Megan Moroney\, Frank Turner\, Cardinal Balck\, Katherine Priddy and Kids In Glass Houses. \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. SUMMARY:Attila the Stockbroker
DESCRIPTION:Punk poet\, latterly dub poet\, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Attila the Stockbroker exploded into public consciousness in 1982-3 via two John Peel sessions and a Melody Maker front cover and is now celebrating 44 years earning a living doing what he loves. So far: 4000 gigs in 24 countries\, some 20 CD/s LPs\, ten books of poems\, his autobiography ‘Arguments Yard’ (Cherry Red Books\, 2015) and his collected works ‘Heart on my Sleeve’ (Cherry Red Books\, 2021) \nHis latest and 10th book of poetry\, ‘Fiery Words for Hellish Times’ was published by Flapjack Press on 13th March. It is searingly topical: the title says it all. And a few months ago his ninth\, ‘A Lifetime of Football Writing (Poems\, Songs & Stories’)’ was published in Finland and is now available in the UK. \nAttila’s current solo performance comprises fiery\, satirical\, political and personal spoken word\, dub poetry\, acoustic songs and early music punk on ancient instruments. He really doesn’t sound like anything else. He’s very prolific and his material is very\, very up to date. In 2024 he did a 14 day run at the Edinburgh PBH Free Fringe called ’14 Days\, 14 Completely Different Shows’ and he reckons he’s got another six hours or so of material to choose from! \nHis latest music album\, endorsed by his old friend\, the now sadly departed Ben Zephaniah\, is a dub poetry collection ’40 Years In Rhyme’ with rhythms from Kingsley Salmon and What’s Left Dub. The previous one\, 2018’s ‘Restoration Tragedy’ recorded with his band Barnstormer 1649\, combines early music and punk – a lifelong ambition – with tales of the English Revolution of 1649.

SUMMARY:Tallulah Rendall Only Human UK Tour
DESCRIPTION:ONLY HUMAN is more than an album — it’s an immersive companion exploring what it means to live with an open heart in a complex world. \nABOUT → TALLULAH RENDALL \nTallulah Rendall’s seventh album\, HUMAN\, is a raw and cinematic exploration of what it means to live with an open heart in a world that often rewards disconnection. Blending alt-pop\, electronic textures\, and organic instrumentation\, the album chronicles her journey from shame and a lack of self belief to self-acceptance and love; a deeply personal yet universal reflection on the courage to be human.” A love letter to the messy beauty of existence — to falling\, breaking\, healing\, and rising again. Each song is a prayer\, a confession\, a reclamation of self. It’s an album about remembering who we are beneath the noise; raw\, imperfect\, and profoundly alive. \nhttps://www.tallulahrendall.com/ \nTallulah’s performance includes Sam Walker (drums & vocals)\, David Curtis (double bass) \nAtton=Raon – support \nMulti-Instrumental performer/composer Sam Walker – Sprawling experimental pop flows through soaring melody\, rolling textural beats and pin drop moments held within a world of sound design\, spoken word\, exquisite lighting and visuals. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/attonraon/

SUMMARY:Fungi Field Trip: An Autumn Walk Exploring Fungi\, Mycelium & Woodland Ecology
DESCRIPTION:It’s peak fungi season\, so we’re heading out on a Fungi Field Trip to see what the woods are fruiting. \nWe’ll begin with a warming medicinal mushroom tea\, introductions\, and a chance to meet the group before heading out into the woodland. \nAs we wander\, we’ll learn how to read the clues fungi give us: shape\, colour\, texture\, scent\, habitat\, and the trees and plants growing nearby. The walk is suitable for complete beginners\, but there’ll be plenty for anyone looking to sharpen their ID skills and deepen their understanding. \nWe’ll also zoom out from individual mushrooms to the bigger fungal picture\, exploring the mycelial networks beneath our feet\, the relationships fungi form with plants and trees\, and their essential role in decomposition\, regeneration\, and woodland ecology. Along the way\, we’ll touch on some traditional culinary and medicinal uses too. \nThis is primarily a no-pick walk\, with the focus on observation\, identification\, and curiosity rather than filling baskets. We’ll also explore responsible foraging and what it might mean to have a more respectful\, reciprocal relationship with the fungal world. \nExpect mushrooms\, mycelium\, ecology\, good conversation\, and an afternoon of looking at the forest a little differently. \nNo previous knowledge needed. Just curiosity and suitable footwear. \nPlease note: this is an observational walk\, not a foraging event. We won’t be collecting or consuming psychedelic mushrooms. \nUnder 18s are very welcome when accompanied by an adult\, but everyone attending will need their own ticket. \nThe event will take place in woodland near Frome. Exact meeting details and what to bring will be shared in the week before the event. You’ll need your own transport\, so if you need a lift\, bring a mate with a car and make a night of it.

SUMMARY:No Dig with Charles Dowding at The Village Frome
DESCRIPTION:Charles Dowding is coming to The Village Frome for a special two-hour workshop on no dig growing. \nFor more than 40 years\, Charles has been exploring how we can grow healthy\, abundant food while disturbing the soil as little as possible. His no dig approach is rooted in a simple idea: feed the soil from the surface with compost and organic matter\, then allow its extraordinary web of life to do the work beneath. \nDuring this workshop\, Charles will share the foundations of no dig growing\, including how to create and maintain productive beds\, work with compost\, manage weeds and grow more food with less time and effort. \nWhether you have an allotment\, a vegetable patch\, a community garden or simply the beginnings of an idea\, this workshop will offer practical knowledge and encouragement for growers at every stage. \nAt The Village\, we are creating a place where people can gather\, learn and rebuild a relationship with the land and with one another. We are delighted to welcome Charles to share his experience as our own community growing spaces continue to take root. \nWith support from The National Lottery Community Fund\, we are able to offer tickets on a sliding scale of £3\, £6 or £9. Please pay what you can. Every ticket helps us continue growing The Village and creating more opportunities for people to learn\, gather and connect with the land. \nPlaces are limited and advance booking is essential. If you book and later find that you cannot attend\, please cancel your ticket so we can offer the place to someone else. \nThe Village is an outdoor\, land-based site\, so please come dressed for the October weather and wear suitable footwear. Full arrival information will be sent before the workshop

SUMMARY:Frome Storytelling Circle – October session
DESCRIPTION:Frome Storytelling Circle is a monthly local group for practicing the art of traditional oral storytelling in a friendly\, relaxed setting. \nThe shapes of the stories may be old\, but the behaviours they describe and the lessons they teach are as common and as applicable nowadays as they ever were. Each teller has their own style and their own tone and they tell a given story in their own way. \nWe welcome all sorts of stories told from memory: folktales\, fairy tales\, myths\, legends\, contemporary and personal. Stories should be limited to 10 minutes\, and there is no need to book a slot in advance. \nAll tellers are welcome\, from experienced yarn spinners to newcomers who would like to have a try at this oldest art. \nListeners are very welcome – what is a story without an audience? There is no pressure to tell a story\, and we love welcoming good listeners into the space. \nAttendance is free\, though we welcome cash donations on the night to help cover the cost of room hire and poster printing. \nFrome Storytelling Circle is hosted and organised by Bridget\, Lesley\, Mike\, Ruth and Steph. We meet upstairs in The Three Swans pub – so grab a drink at the bar\, come up and join us.
