Join us to learn new skills\, spend time in nature\, and connect with like-minded folk. \nCome and spend a few hours in nature doing something that matters. No experience is necessary\, just a willingness to get stuck in and try something new. \n42 Acres has been a rewilding nature reserve for over a decade and is species-rich. Join us to connect with the natural world through hands-on activities from wildlife surveying\, to tending habitats\, and slowing down with nature photography. \nSessions run on the last Sunday of the month 10am-2pm (except in May when we are meeting at 8pm for bats and beavers!). There will be time to connect\, wander\, and simply be outside. If you’re up for it\, you’re welcome to join in for a wild swim too. At 1pm we’ll stop and share a simple lunch together\, provided by 42 Acres. \n____ \nSun 31 May: Bats and Beavers: \nPart of the Great Somerset Wildlife Count\, with guest expert Keith Ball (Somerset Bat Group). Please note: this is an evening session\, running 8–10pm\, as we head out for some gentle nocturnal exploration. \nSun 28 June: Hazel Dormice & Reading Nature: \nJoin us to create footprint tunnels for hazel dormice to discover whether this protected species (that have been spotted on neighbouring land!) exist at 42. We’ll also take a relaxed walk around the 11-acre lake\, recording observations and contributing to global biodiversity databases. We’ll look for signs of beaver activity\, tracks\, and birdlife\, and finish at the white stork enclosure\, part of our species reintroduction work. Guided by Lynne Sewell (Sustainable Witham)\, Robyn Caple (@nestandnettleecology)\, and Lisa Hawes (42 Acres). \nSun 26 July: Butterflies\, Dragonflies + Pond Dipping: \nPart of the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme\, one of the longest-running insect surveys in the world. With guest expert Fred Giles\, we’ll explore the world of butterflies\, dragonflies\, and other insects\, with a chance to get closer through pond dipping and observation. \nSun 30 Aug: Reptiles and Botanics: \nJoin us to check reptile refuges across the site\, helping us understand which species are present (and which are likely absent). Or take a creative route\, help us start making a handmade herbarium for the site while learning how to “key out”\, a step by step process used to identify unknown plant species. \nSun 27 Sep: Trees\nDiscover the stories of Britain’s ancient and veteran trees\, and learn how to identify and photograph them in their late-summer form. \nSun 25 Oct: Harvest Mice and Native Fungi:\nHelp us ascertain whether harvest mice are present on the land at 42\, we’ll search together for their tiny nests. It appeared at major festivals such as Latitude\, Isle of Wight and Camp Bestival\, and was named by Far Out Magazine as one of Glastonbury’s top 20 alternative acts. \n2024 took the act global with gigs in Australia\, New Zealand\, Bali and France\, plus a 40-date UK festival run. DESCRIPTION:Mashing their own brew of pop-punk and folk since 2013\, the five-piece continue on their mission to provide merriment and moshing to the masses by relentlessly touring the UK and Europe. \nDrawing inspiration from their favourite punk bands growing up\, matched with their long affinity to folk legends\, the fusion had formed. With the driving force of drums\, bass and high energy guitar\, they meet unwavering banjo\, mandolin and tin whistle melodies\, and all stand equally on the battlefield. \nThe debut album ‘Taking Chances’ was released in 2017\, with the sophomore album ‘Comedies and Tragedies’ being released three years later during the first lockdown of 2020. Newest release ‘The Only Life Worth Living’ came out to the masses in 2023 boasting four singles\, including one featuring guest vocalist Hannah Greenwood of Creeper. All three releases were released independently and were produced and mixed by Lewis Johns of The Ranch. \nTo date the band’s UK festival appearances include Cropredy\, WOMAD\, Boomtown\, Beautiful Days\, Belladrum\, Black Deer\, Camp Bestival along with hundreds of smaller UK festivals and beyond\, also venturing into Germany\, Belgium\, Switzerland\, The Netherlands\, Czech Republic and France. \nIn both 2016 and 2018\, Black Water County won their place on Fireball’s ‘Fuelling the Fire Tour’ supporting Less Than Jake\, Flogging Molly\, The Bronx and The Skints. They subsequently featured in Kerrang!’s online coverage of the tour\, received an endorsement from Fireball UK and also appeared on BBC radio stations with the single ‘Rise and Fall’. \n‘Ultimately though\, it was Black Water County who landed themselves a place on the stage with Flogging Molly.. DESCRIPTION:Do you ever feel that even your weekends are too busy and demanding? That you need time out\, just to relax? Stolen Moments is a new kind of jazz event. A late Saturday afternoon interlude in the liminal space between day and evening. True down time\, in a beautiful church\, to do nothing but enjoy exquisite modern jazz and delicious cakes. \nTickets are not necessary and entry is free. A donation afterwards (which contributes to church funds) is optional. Just come along to Christ Church\, Frome from 3-5pm (doors 2:30pm) any second Saturday of the month except for July and August. The concerts are informal occasions and you are welcome to drop in and out. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool sextet Red Rum Club continue their upward curve\, charging into 2026 with relentless momentum and a sound that’s become unmistakably their own – bold\, brass-fuelled\, and bursting with ambition. With their signature “Mariachi Merseybeat” drawing fans from Merseyside to Mexico\, the band are showing no signs of slowing down. \n2025 was a huge year\, featuring UK arena and European tour dates with The Wombats\, as well as major festival appearances at Glastonbury\, Reading & Leeds\, Tramlines\, and YNOT. The band also played their biggest ever hometown headline show at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool\, where 11\,000 fans gathered to celebrate their meteoric rise. \nIn September\, the band secured their second Top 10 album with BUCK (Modern Sky UK)\, reaching No. 7 and earning recognition from the Official Charts with a special award. Around the same time\, they signed a licensing deal with New York/LA-based label AVENUE A\, which is currently promoting the album across North\, Central\, and South America. \nLive shows remain the heartbeat of Red Rum Club. To mark the release of BUCK\, the band embarked on a major sold-out UK headline tour (24th September to 9th October)\, playing to thousands of fans nationwide. Wasting no time\, they then headed out on their biggest North American tour to date\, joining The Wombats from 14th October to 15th November and continuing to build their rapidly growing US fanbase. \n2026 has already kicked off in style\, with an appearance at the prestigious #HAPPENS event in Las Vegas\, where the band performed to over 100 radio programmers from across the USA. They have also announced slots at major UK summer festivals\, alongside a headline performance at On The Waterfront at Pier Head\, Liverpool – a 12\,000-capacity show and their biggest headline performance to date. \nContinuing to expand their North American footprint\, the band are set to play 13 shows across the continent\, marking their seventh tour of the region.
