Grown ups only though sorry\, no children or babies. \nQigong (pronounced chee-gong) is a gentle mind–body practice from Chinese tradition that combines slow\, flowing movement\, breathing\, and focused attention to support health and wellbeing.\nIt’s often described as working with your “qi” (energy)—helping it move smoothly through the body.\nSessions can include:\nSoft\, rhythmic movements (similar to slow dance or Tai Chi)\nBreathwork to calm the nervous system\nStillness or meditation\nPeople use Qigong to improve balance\, flexibility\, relaxation\, and overall energy\, and it’s accessible to most abilities—even seated. \nJayne James is a Qigong instructor with a background in musculoskeletal health within the NHS\, which enhances and informs her approach to practice.\nHer practice is rooted in empowering individuals to take an active role in their wellbeing through breath\, movement and awareness.\nPracticing for over six years with a Grand Master and certified through intensive instructor programmes\, she guides flowing sessions that calm the mind\, release tension and restore balance within the body and emotions.\nShe currently teaches in her home village of Nunney supporting a diverse range of clients in cultivating resilience\, clarity and a deeper connection to themselves through this powerful\, meditative practice.

DESCRIPTION:Come along and learn more about nature-led recovery at Heal’s first rewilding site\, Heal Somerset.\nHeal Somerset began its recovery from its ecologically depleted state at the beginning of 2023 and nature here is already beginning to bounce back. This tour is a unique opportunity to spend time with Heal’s co-founder and acting CEO\, Jan Stannard\, who will take you around part of our beautiful site on mown paths. \nYou will learn more around the wider context of rewilding\, including the reasons we need it and the benefits it brings to nature\, the climate and to our own wellbeing. Jan will talk about the rewilding principles that Heal follows and give you an insight into some of our plans for the land\, particularly the interventions we’re considering and our plans for future livestock introductions. The group will also hear about some of the changes we have seen on the site already\, including the very welcome appearance of wild-living beavers. \nYou will also hopefully experience some of the varied wildlife we have on site\, but even if the creatures are elusive on the day\, we know you will still find the site a beautiful\, peaceful and restorative place to be. \nYour tour will finish with refreshments in our 17th century farmhouse where conversations about rewilding and Heal can continue.

There are four half hour slots\, divided by age as follows: \n\n10am: Age 6 to 11 years\n10.30am: 6 to 11 years\n11am: 12 to 16 years\n11.30pm: 12 to 16 years\n\nThere is very limited room for walk-ups on the day\, within the age groups listed above\, but pre-booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. \nBring your own skateboard. Please note that helmets and protective equipment are compulsory: if you do not wear them you cannot take part. We will have limited kit to lend on the day.  \nAlthough every care will be taken for your safety\, and there will be a first aider at the event\, all skaters skate at their own risk and will be asked to sign a disclaimer to that effect before taking part.

You’re welcome to drop in for as little or as long as you like – everyone is invited to take part in the activities at the heart of the Westway Shopping Centre. \nThis event is a collaboration between the Civic Imaginary Partnerships project and local artists Claire Orpin and Tamara Jones. Civic Imaginary Partnerships is a four-year research project led by the University of Glasgow\, exploring how people think\, feel\, dream and sense the futures of the places where they live. Our partners in Frome are Frome Town Council and Edventure. You do not need to give your name or any personal information to take part. His dedication\, leadership\, and belief in the venue and its staff helped shape it into the vibrant cultural hub it is today. \nBeyond his work with the Cheese and Grain\, Phil was the founder of Frome FM\, a community radio station that continues to enrich local life. He went on to launch Visual Radio Arts\, giving a platform to hundreds of artists and supporting their work. He also served as a Somerset County Councillor\, working tirelessly to represent and champion the interests of the local community. \nIn celebration of Phil’s life\, we are honoured to be hosting a special event\, “Party At The End Of The World\,” alongside his family and friends. \nThe evening will feature a fantastic line-up including The Utopia Strong\, Arch Garrison\, Richard\, Chantelle & Amy\, Kavus Torabi\, The Jolly Rotter\, Hodmadoddery\, Sara Vian and will be hosted by Martin Dimery. \nWe remain profoundly grateful for Phil’s vision\, support\, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind\, not only within the Cheese and Grain\, but across the wider Frome community. \nIn celebration of his life and in honour of this legacy\, all funds raised from the event will be donated to support the vital work of Fair Frome.

It’s a real opportunity to be guided into a place of deep rest and relaxation\, a chance to pause and switch off from the chaos of everyday life. We’re extra excited about this May day as the weather and the water will be warmer and will support a more gentle introduction to wild swimming than our previous winter dates – although we will of course have the sauna on! DESCRIPTION:The early 1980s saw a second Liverpool music renaissance\, with China Crisis emerging in 1981 from Kirkby as the songwriting duo Gary Daly (vocals/keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar/vocals). Influenced by Bowie\, Stevie Wonder\, Eric Satie and Brian Eno\, they quickly developed a unique sound—blending synthpop with reggae\, country\, horns\, strings\, and more—working with producers like Mike Howlett\, Langer/Winstanley and Steely Dan’s Walter Becker. \nThe band achieved three UK Top 40 albums and eleven UK Top 50 singles\, including “Wishful Thinking\,” “Christian\,” “Black Man Ray\,” and “King in a Catholic Style\,” while building a loyal fanbase that endures today. Their music continues to reach new audiences\, sampled by artists like French Montana and Action Bronson\, and featured in films and TV such as Gone Girl and Sex Education. \nChina Crisis have toured worldwide for over four decades. Their 2015 fan-funded album Autumn in the Neighbourhood marked a celebrated return to form and will be relaunched in 2025. In 2024\, they released China Greatness\, a reimagined collection of songs from their 42-year catalogue\, produced with Grammy-winner Mark Phythian and featuring new orchestral arrangements\, earning their highest-ever chart position at No. 5 on the UK Vinyl Album Chart. \nRenowned for engaging live shows that mix music with trademark Scouse humour\, China Crisis remain a cherished and relevant band\, still connecting with fans old and new.
