SUMMARY:Power Film: Power Station
DESCRIPTION:POWER STATION is a bold\, funny and heartwarming documentary about what happens when neighbours come together to take power – quite literally – into their own hands. Set in Walthamstow\, the film follows artists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn as they attempt to turn their street into a solar-powered energy station\, kickstarting a grassroots energy revolution inspired by lockdown mutual aid. \nDirected by the duo\, the film captures a turbulent journey filled with big ideas\, setbacks and unexpected moments of joy – from rooftop campouts and community meetings to fundraising challenges and a surprise bid for a Christmas number one single. At its heart\, POWER STATION is a celebration of local action\, shared ambition and the belief that change can start right outside your front door. \nFollowing the screening\, audiences are invited to stay for a Q&A panel exploring the themes of the film and what community energy\, creativity and collaboration could look like in Frome. \nMatt Mellen\, Climate Action Lead at Frome Town Council\, said: “POWER STATION captures something really special – the moment when ordinary people decide to work together and imagine something better. Frome has a proud history of community-led action\, and this film is a timely reminder of how imagination and collective effort can help shape a more sustainable future.” \nThis event forms part of Frome Town Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting community-led responses to the climate and ecological emergency\, while creating welcoming spaces for conversation\, inspiration and connection.

SUMMARY:Alice Roberts
DESCRIPTION:Join Professor Alice Roberts as she takes us on an investigative journey to establish who spread Christianity\, how and why; the story of the fall of an Empire – and the rise of another. \nCelebrating the publication of her new book\, Domination\, the narrative will lead audiences from a secluded valley in South Wales to the shores of Brittany; from the heart of the Roman Empire in a time of political turmoil to the ancient city of Corinth in the footsteps of the apostle Paul; from Alexandria in the fourth century to Constantinople. \nAs the Roman Empire crumbled in Western Europe\, a shadow of power remained\, almost perfectly mapping onto its disappearing territories. And then\, it continued to spread. Unearthing the archaeological clues and challenging long-established histories\, Professor Roberts tells a remarkable story about the relationship between the Roman Empire and Christianity. \nLifting the veil on secrets that have been hidden in plain sight\, this story is nothing short of astonishing. Domination is a page-turning exploration of power and its survival\, and now you have the opportunity to hear more from the author in this exciting evening with Professor Alice Roberts.

Take home your own inoculated log – where it will fruit in your garden for years to come. \nWhat to expect: \nLearn about the properties of Turkey Tail\, Shiitake\, Lions Mane and Artist Conk\, most of which are native strains to the UK and cultivated from the wild here at 42 Acres.\nBe guided through the basics of drying and making tinctures.\nLearn the technique of mushroom inoculation – the world’s oldest recorded farming method.\nLearn more about 42 Acres’ wild-tending principles and our pioneering agriwilding projects. \nWhat is included: \nThis workshop includes a tasty lunch from our “Soil to Gut” menu – you will eat food grown on the land you’re walking. Wild teas will be provided throughout the session. \nOur session will open with a guided meditation and a check-in\, in the spirit of our vision to help ourselves attune to living in harmony with nature. We believe that connecting in this way encourages deeper connection and mindful working practices\, for both us and the land. \nThis is a unique and hands-on day ideal for any fungi lover or wild medicine cabinet enthusiast!

SUMMARY:Future Council Screening and Q&A with Frome Youth Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:A film by Damon Gameau. Eight kids go on a trip across Europe to challenge powerful leaders and find solutions to our ecological challenges\nFuture Council\, (PG) directed by Damon Gameau (known for 2040 and That Sugar Film)\, follows eight children on a biofuel-powered road trip across Europe as they challenge powerful leaders and seek solutions to ecological crises. The film celebrates youth leadership and imagines a future shaped by hope\, courage\, and collective action — a perfect companion to the message of Plastic Bones. \nThis follows on from the earlier procession led by Frome Youth Climate Action group\, a dynamic group of young environmental activists aged 12 to 18\, who carried ‘Plastic Bones’ through the town – a handmade globe sculpture created from rubbish collected on local streets along with natural and recycled materials – symbolising the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our planet and the vital role of young people play in holding up its future.

SUMMARY:The London African Gospel Choir (Graceland 40th Anniversary)
DESCRIPTION:THE LONDON AFRICAN GOSPEL CHOIR PERFORM PAUL SIMON’S ‘GRACELAND’ – *40TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW* \nThis 17 strong ensemble will be live\, delivering the Graceland album from start to finish. After coming across a bootleg cassette of South African township music in the early 80s\, Paul Simon was totally smitten by the infectious & irresistible rhythms. He travelled to Johannesburg\, spending two weeks there\, recording with the absolute cream of South African musicians. \nThat epic session\, went on to form the basis of Simon’s most commercially successful album ever – Graceland. The record became a true global phenomenon\, winning Grammys in both 1987 & 88\, shifting 5 million copies Stateside & then another 2.5 million copies in the UK alone. As it blew up worldwide\, the Graceland album spawned the hit singles\, ‘Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes’\, ‘The Boy in the Bubble’ & it’s biggest smash – ‘You Can Call Me Al.’ \nThe London African Gospel Choir are a collective of African singers\, musicians & dancers. They have quite literally performed with everyone who’s anyone\, including Annie Lennox & John Legend\, as well as gaining plaudits from Paul Simon himself. The total richness & harmony of the Choir’s rhythmic\, uplifting\, evocative & empowering voices\, create an overwhelming musical event. Ask anyone lucky enough to have experienced this astonishing show last time they were here & believe what you hear… \n‘To compare this show to anything else – would be like trying to measure love\, or joy\, with a ruler.’

SUMMARY:Royal Ballet: Giselle
DESCRIPTION:The peasant girl Giselle has fallen in love with Albrecht. When she discovers that he is actually a nobleman promised to another\, she kills herself in despair. Her spirit joins the Wilis: the vengeful ghosts of women hell-bent on killing any man who crosses their path in a dance to the death. SUMMARY:Emma Rice Company: Blue Beard
DESCRIPTION:Blue Beard the Magician makes hearts flutter and pupils dilate. With a wink\, a stroke and a flick – things just seem to vanish. Cards\, coins\, scarves… and women. \nPuff! Gone. Without a trace. \nHe meets his match when his young bride discovers his dark and murderous secret. She summons all her rage\, all her smarts and all her sisters to bring the curtain down on his tyrannous reign. \nEmma Rice brings her own brand of theatrical wonder to this most beguiling and disturbing of tales. With her signature sleight of hand\, Blue Beard explores curiosity and consent\, violence and vengeance – all through an intoxicating lens of music\, wit and tender truth. \nThanks to the Emma Rice Company for allowing us to screen Blue Beard to mark International Women’s Day 2026.

SUMMARY:Exploring the Sibling Story
DESCRIPTION:Our earliest experiences of family shape us more deeply than we often realise. Our families are where we learned about relationships\, and whether we grew up with siblings or without them\, we each carry quiet stories about belonging\, comparison\, responsibility\, closeness\, rivalry\, or loneliness from these foundational early years. These stories don’t disappear when we become adults and it can be surprising how often they are still alive in how we view our place in the world today. \nAs mothers\, these patterns subtly inform how we see our children\, how we interpret their relationships\, and how we respond and relate to the dynamics between them. We want our children to get along (or have a healthy only-child experience)\, while also knowing how deeply precious they are to us. When we experience sibling rivalry\, troubling behaviour\, or even ‘the easy kid’\, there are so many stories in the making for our children and as the parents we can find ourselves responding based on the hurts or stories of where we came from. But this often means we miss things\, because there are always more sides to any story. \nThe Sibling Story is an opportunity to gain new perspective on patterns and stories created by our ‘oldest\, ‘middle’\, ‘baby’ identities\, wherever or whatever the variation. It is a gentle space to put ourselves in the shoes of our children and bring some curiosity to how we can support them to the most vibrant versions of themselves\, within their sibling identity and outside of it. And an opportunity for ourselves as adults to shed any stories that are still keeping us in habits or behaviours that we never loved to begin with. \nThis workshop invites curiosity\, compassion\, and perspective. This is not a parenting “how-to” or a space for comparison. It is a reflective\, human space. One that honours complexity\, individuality\, and the reality that every family looks and feels different. \nYou’ll leave with greater clarity\, new perspective and awareness\, and practical insights you can carry into everyday family life –  supporting both your children and yourself to thrive.
