SUMMARY:Award Winning Films from the 2026 Frome International Climate Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:THE FILM ROOM – COMMUNITY CINEMA\, supporting new and current filmmakers locally and from around the world\, because everyone should have a voice. Non mainstream cinema which matters. \n23rd September Films\nFILM 1 – OBRONI WAWU – DEAD MAN’S CLOTHES: Obroni Wawu\, meaning “dead white man’s clothes”\, follows Ghanaian creatives and traders as they confront the environmental and social toll of second hand clothing dumped from the Global North.\nFILM 2 – SAURY SEAWEED: The Korean Peninsula is a land where the Cold War never died. As oceans warm\, the southern survival limit of a mythic marine plant is relentlessly retreating north. The species is vanishing from the South. \n21st October Films\nFILM 1 – A FOOD STORY: There is a place in Tenerife where humans and animals sustain themselves with a simple yet extraordinary resource: food waste. They collect\, segregate\, cook\, store\, and create compost from it\, by sustaining up to 40 people and 400 animals each day using just the waste from a single supermarket\nFILM 2 – INTO THE WILD: INTO THE WILD explores the American West and its unique ecosystems\, where iconic species such as mustangs and coyotes are under threat. Alongside zoologist Yvan Kereun\, the film blends science\, Indigenous knowledge\, and conservation practices \n18th November Films\nFILM 1 – WHEN SOLAR LIGHTS UPON THE COMMUNITY: In a timeworn community in Shanghai\, a group of Green Housewives has turned the neighbourhood into a stage for renewable energy. When solar lights upon the community\, the players step forward: a mother of three who studied renewable power in Scandinavia; an artist who creates gallery-worthy sculptures with the community from recyclables; China’s first household-solar pioneer; a high-schooler who runs the community garden’s irrigation on renewable energy.\nFILM 2 – WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD WILDLIFE IN THE CITY: The city is like a living organism. Healthy and in perfect balance\, it can make its inhabitants happy\, people as well as animals and plants. If it gets out of balance\, it becomes ill and with it all the creatures that live in it. It is a valuable habitat for animals such as hedgehogs\, rhinoceros beetles and swallowtails. But cities are under pressure. \n16th December Films\nFILM 1 – ROOTED IN RESILIENCE: In an economy often built on extraction\, the women in Rooted in Resilience offer a powerful alternative built on reciprocity. This documentary captures the journey of Indigenous entrepreneurs who treat the land as a relative rather than a resource.\nFILM 2 – WASTED 2025: Wasted prompts us to re-examine who we are and our values — to re-think our relationship with the world around us. We cannot continue to extract and exploit our ecosystems at unprecedented rates and continue down the path of wasting our precious natural resources. We want to inspire action across business\, policy and individuals to clean up our communities\, cities and natural habitats and create healthy\, thriving economies.

SUMMARY:Matthew C. Whitaker (Henge) – Live at the Tree House
DESCRIPTION:Best known as the frontman of cosmic prog-rave favourites HENGE\, Matthew C. Whitaker steps away from the intergalactic spectacle for a rare and intimate solo performance. \nA Manchester-based musician\, composer and classically trained guitarist\, Whitaker’s solo work reveals a strikingly different side to the artist behind one of the UK’s most brilliantly eccentric live bands. Where HENGE deal in maximalist psychedelia\, electronics and sci-fi theatre\, his own music is hushed\, melodic and beautifully intricate\, drawing together fingerpicked classical guitar\, dreamy folk\, jazz-inflected arrangements and subtle electronics. \nHis latest album\, Songs for the Weary\, arrived in February 2026\, marking his first solo record in a decade. Across eight delicately crafted pieces\, Whitaker creates a warm\, cinematic world of intricate harmonies\, gentle vocals and rich orchestration. The record has quickly attracted support from BBC Radio 6 Music\, with tracks championed by Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie\, Craig Charles and Deb Grant. \nFollowing a run of acclaimed UK and European dates earlier in the year\, Whitaker returns to the road this autumn with the music stripped back even further\, taking to the stage completely solo. \nAn opportunity to experience the man behind HENGE in an entirely different setting: up close\, understated and built for attentive listening. \nPlease note this is an 18+ event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. If you have any enquiries please email thetreehouse@cheeseandgrain.com

SUMMARY:Village Boys: A Long-Term Mentoring Group
DESCRIPTION:Village Boys is a new weekly mentoring group at The Village Frome for boys aged 8–12. \nLed by Luke and Rob\, the group offers boys the chance to spend regular time with trusted male mentors\, build strong relationships and become part of a community where they are known\, needed and trusted. \nDays are rooted in the land and shaped around practical skills\, real responsibility\, adventure and contribution. The boys will build and make\, use tools\, cook over fire\, grow food\, explore the woods\, care for the land and take on real jobs that matter. \nAs the group develops there will also be adventures\, expeditions and rites of passage\, with the intention that this becomes something the boys grow with over time rather than simply another weekly activity. \nAt the heart of Village Boys is the opportunity for boys to experience healthy masculinity through relationship: spending time alongside good men and seeing how they work\, listen\, lead\, care and contribute. \nThursdays\, 10am–3pm\, term time \nAges 8–12\n£40 per session \nStarting September at The Village\, Frome. \nTo register your interest\, email villagefrome@gmail.com or visit thevillagefrome.co.uk.

SUMMARY:Northcote – Live at the Tree House
DESCRIPTION:From the frozen highways of Canada to massive festival stages around the world\, Northcote has built a reputation as one of modern folk-punk’s most commanding and road-worn voices\, and this October\, he’s bringing that raw grit and soul to Frome. \nNorthcote is the musical project of Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Goud\, known for his heartfelt songwriting and dynamic live performances. Since launching in 2008\, Northcote has toured internationally\, performing alongside artists such as The Gaslight Anthem\, Frank Turner\, Hot Water Music and many more while building a loyal fanbase across North America and Europe. \nIn 2026\, Northcote is set to release To Cherish\, a full-length album recorded at Rain City Studios in Vancouver and produced by Jesse Gander (Japandroids\, White Lung). The project showcases an evolved sound with contributions from a talented ensemble of musicians including Paul Rigby (Neko Case) and long-time collaborator Stephen McGillvray. \nNorthcote has released seven studio albums and multiple singles\, steadily growing an audience through powerful\, emotionally resonant performances in intimate venues and major festivals alike. With over 42\,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and a strong social media presence\, Northcote continues to expand his reach\, aiming for a sustainable international career while contributing meaningfully to the music community. \nSpecial guest Tom Jenkins ended 2025 as the BBC Radio Wales Artist of Year in recognition of his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘When The Coal Dust Settled’ a concept album on working class Wales and the oppression of mining communities\, inspired by his family of coal miners and hill farmers. \nAs word of this album spread\, it would gain praise State Side giving him the honour of being the first ever Welsh Artist to open for Willie Nelson at his Ranch in Texas. \nA story like no other\, Jenkins cut his teeth as traveling shepherd / Sheep shearer\, and rancher\, writing his debut album in the New Zealand outback. ‘Misery In Comfort’ was tracked in Fort Worth\, Texas and released in 2019 gaining him instant recognition from Oscar and Grammy winning singer song-writer\, Ryan Bingham\, who invited him on his tour of Ireland and the UK\, before the album came out. \nNow with four albums under his belt in 5 years\, his back catalogue holds a broad mix of sounds\, somewhere between alternative\, Indie-folk with a splash of country\, collaborating with the likes of the late\, Phil Campbell of Motörhead and Marc Ford of The Black Crowes in various expansive album projects. The variation in sound has led to tours and support Slots with the likes of Bastille\, Megan Moroney\, Frank Turner\, Cardinal Balck\, Katherine Priddy and Kids In Glass Houses. \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. DESCRIPTION:ONLY HUMAN is more than an album — it’s an immersive companion exploring what it means to live with an open heart in a complex world. \nABOUT → TALLULAH RENDALL \nTallulah Rendall’s seventh album\, HUMAN\, is a raw and cinematic exploration of what it means to live with an open heart in a world that often rewards disconnection. Blending alt-pop\, electronic textures\, and organic instrumentation\, the album chronicles her journey from shame and a lack of self belief to self-acceptance and love; a deeply personal yet universal reflection on the courage to be human.” A love letter to the messy beauty of existence — to falling\, breaking\, healing\, and rising again. It’s an album about remembering who we are beneath the noise; raw\, imperfect\, and profoundly alive. \nhttps://www.tallulahrendall.com/ \nTallulah’s performance includes Sam Walker (drums & vocals)\, David Curtis (double bass) \nAtton=Raon – support \nMulti-Instrumental performer/composer Sam Walker – Sprawling experimental pop flows through soaring melody\, rolling textural beats and pin drop moments held within a world of sound design\, spoken word\, exquisite lighting and visuals. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/attonraon/

SUMMARY:No Dig with Charles Dowding at The Village Frome
DESCRIPTION:Charles Dowding is coming to The Village Frome for a special two-hour workshop on no dig growing. \nFor more than 40 years\, Charles has been exploring how we can grow healthy\, abundant food while disturbing the soil as little as possible. His no dig approach is rooted in a simple idea: feed the soil from the surface with compost and organic matter\, then allow its extraordinary web of life to do the work beneath. \nDuring this workshop\, Charles will share the foundations of no dig growing\, including how to create and maintain productive beds\, work with compost\, manage weeds and grow more food with less time and effort. \nWhether you have an allotment\, a vegetable patch\, a community garden or simply the beginnings of an idea\, this workshop will offer practical knowledge and encouragement for growers at every stage. \nAt The Village\, we are creating a place where people can gather\, learn and rebuild a relationship with the land and with one another. We are delighted to welcome Charles to share his experience as our own community growing spaces continue to take root. \nWith support from The National Lottery Community Fund\, we are able to offer tickets on a sliding scale of £3\, £6 or £9. Please pay what you can. Every ticket helps us continue growing The Village and creating more opportunities for people to learn\, gather and connect with the land. \nPlaces are limited and advance booking is essential. If you book and later find that you cannot attend\, please cancel your ticket so we can offer the place to someone else. \nThe Village is an outdoor\, land-based site\, so please come dressed for the October weather and wear suitable footwear. Full arrival information will be sent before the workshop

SUMMARY:Full moon swim and sauna at Vallis Farm
DESCRIPTION:Women have been gathering under the full moon forever so join me for a wild swim and sauna under the stars and full moon (moon sighting not guaranteed but we’ll feel her energy whatever the weather!) We’ll meet outside the farmhouse and then have an hour together in a private sauna and swim session with a full moon ritual and intention setting. Swimming in the dark is a truly magical experience and extremely empowering.
