SUMMARY:The Wedding Present
DESCRIPTION:The Wedding Present have been one of the UK’s most loved bands since forming back in 1985. Via records such as ‘George Best’\, ‘Seamonsters’ and ‘Take Fountain’ they grew into an intriguing outfit drawing on influences from The Fall and The Buzzcocks and adding their unique stamp to remain as relevant now as almost 40 years ago. \nDuring 2026 The Wedding Present will be playing a series of concert dates to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the release of their pivotal long-player\, Seamonsters. \nFollowing the release of Seamonsters–which was recorded by the legendary Steve Albini in twelve days during 1991–The Guardian noted that: “Albini has given The Wedding Present considerable weight\, with Gedge’s voice trickling between banks of scowling guitars”and went onto feature it in its list of ‘1\,000 albums to hear before you die’. Despite its uncompromising sound\,the album reached No. 13 in the British album chartsand has been hailed as a classic. \nOn all concert dates the band will play Seamonsters in its entirety along with other songs carefully selected from their extensive repertoire. RCA Records are also commemorating the anniversary with limited edition re-release of the album on ‘Deep Sea Blue’ colour BioVinyl.

A late Saturday afternoon interlude in the liminal space between day and evening. True down time\, in a beautiful church\, to do nothing but enjoy exquisite modern jazz and delicious cakes. \nTickets are not necessary and entry is free. A donation afterwards (which contributes to church funds) is optional. Just come along to Christ Church\, Frome from 3-5pm (doors 2:30pm) any second Saturday of the month except for July and August.
