These artists will share the stage with Eliza\, honouring and celebrating Martin’s immense legacy and musical back catalogue. \nThis evening will present a rolling cast of admirers\, colleagues and surprise guests\, performing an entirely new set featuring some of Martin’s best loved work from all eras of his career\, spanning from his debut to final albums\, via Waterson:Carthy and beyond. \nMartin Carthy is a legendary ballad singer and guitarist who has influenced generations of artists\, including Bob Dylan and Paul Simon\, while Eliza has been twice-nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and a multiple-award winner at the BBC Radio Two Folk awards. \nIn recognition of his illustrious career Martin was recently shortlisted for the 2025 Mercury Prize for his wonderful new solo record Transform Me Then Into A Fish. This album both marked his 84th birthday in May 2025\, and offered a full circle moment in his music journey as he revisited material from his very first (eponymous) solo record released in 1965. \nSupport will be provided by Martha Tilston\, featuring a beautiful original set. With a pure silken voice and lyrics that inspire and captivate\, she has developed a successful musical career with a large and loyal following worldwide. \nMartha has played on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and festivals\, recorded and released several critically acclaimed albums\, gained a nomination for BBC best newcomer\, appeared as a guest vocalist for Zero 7\, toured internationally and worked with the some of the world’s most inspiring musicians. \nThe past few years have seen Martha venture in to the world of film making\, gaining nominations for best arts film for The Clifftop Sessions and recently releasing her first feature film (with an accompanying Soundtrack Album) – The Tape – which is garnering much praise and excitement. \n“Redolent of early Kate Bush\, soulful vocals that soar around\, an understated masterpiece’” Acoustic Magazine \nThis event is part of Frome Festival.

Music in Country Churches was set up in 1989 to organise concerts of exceptional music in rural churches and is particularly keen to give concert opportunities to young and emerging performers. Following each concert\, a donation is made to the church to help with maintaining the building and carrying out essential repairs. Tickets cost £20 (General Admission\, first-come-first-seated). DESCRIPTION:Raging Speedhorn formed in 1998 in Corby\, Northamptonshire\, merging members of Box and Soulcellar into a ferocious force of sludge\, metal\, and hardcore. Known for their dual-vocal attack—John Loughlin’s guttural growl alongside Frank Regan’s raw intensity\, the band quickly built a reputation for chaotic\, high-energy live shows. \nAfter the release of their self-titled debut (2000) and We Will Be Dead Tomorrow (2002)\, which saw “The Gush” enter the UK charts\, the band toured relentlessly with acts like Rammstein\, Slipknot\, and Biohazard\, and played major festivals including Ozzfest\, Reading\, and Download. Their third album\, How the Great Have Fallen (2005)\, preceded lineup changes and a fourth release\, Before the Sea Was Built (2007)\, before they disbanded in 2008. \nReforming in 2014\, the band returned with renewed energy\, headlining stages at Sonisphere and Damnation Festival\, and releasing Lost Ritual (2016) and Hard to Kill (2020)\, the latter charting across UK rock and indie rankings. They’ve since toured extensively across the UK and Europe with bands like Sepultura\, Napalm Death\, and Skindred\, and appeared at major festivals including Wacken. \nIn 2024\, Raging Speedhorn released their latest record\, continuing their legacy of uncompromising heaviness. \nPlease note this is an 18+ all-standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift.
