Create your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet’ and inoculate your own log to take home & fruit in your garden for years to come. \nDuring this full-day workshop\, you’ll discover native\, wild\, medicinal mushrooms growing at 42 Acres and in the local southwest area. \nFor the first half of the day\, you’ll be heading out on a guided foraging walk; illuminating the incredible world of medicinal fungi that we commonly walk past. You’ll learn the key features needed to safely identify each mushroom and where each is commonly found. \nIn the afternoon you will be creating your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet.’ You will learn how to safely preserve your mushrooms and extract their medicine for use all year round\, in yours and your loved ones lives – for a host of illness and preventative uses. This medicine is often very expensive and our shared vision is to support you to be able to do it yourself safely. Our intention is for you to feel empowered to harvest your own mushroom medicine cabinet and grow your own medicinal mushrooms. \nYou will also learn the ancient technique of mushroom inoculation – a highly sustainable method that mimics nature and produces mushrooms dense in nutrients that are hard to find from other food sources. Take home your own inoculated log – where it will fruit in your garden for years to come. \nWhat to expect: \nLearn about the properties of Turkey Tail\, Shiitake\, Lions Mane and Artist Conk\, most of which are native strains to the UK and cultivated from the wild here at 42 Acres.\nBe guided through the basics of drying and making tinctures.\nLearn the technique of mushroom inoculation – the world’s oldest recorded farming method.\nLearn more about 42 Acres’ wild-tending principles and our pioneering agriwilding projects. \nWhat is included: \nThis workshop includes a tasty lunch from our “Soil to Gut” menu – you will eat food grown on the land you’re walking. Wild teas will be provided throughout the session. \nOur session will open with a guided meditation and a check-in\, in the spirit of our vision to help ourselves attune to living in harmony with nature. The film celebrates youth leadership and imagines a future shaped by hope\, courage\, and collective action — a perfect companion to the message of Plastic Bones. \nThis follows on from the earlier procession led by Frome Youth Climate Action group\, a dynamic group of young environmental activists aged 12 to 18\, who carried ‘Plastic Bones’ through the town – a handmade globe sculpture created from rubbish collected on local streets along with natural and recycled materials – symbolising the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our planet and the vital role of young people play in holding up its future.

You don’t need to have a bike to take part\, just come and find out about FCBP and ask anything cycling related. You’re also invited to bring your bike along for a free safety check. There will be information on choosing the right bike\, the correct size and essential safety equipment – you can even try some out. Find out about child seats\, trailers\, cargo bikes\, and how to cycle safely with children\, or getting back on a bike with kids. \nLed by experienced female volunteers\, Back on the Saddle is relaxed\, encouraging and judgement free. There is no pressure\, no pace setting and no prior experience needed. Just a chance to connect\, learn and build confidence on two wheels. There will be tea and cake\, with plenty of time to chat\, ask questions. Come on your own or with a friend. You don’t need to be “a cyclist” – just curious!

DESCRIPTION:Our earliest experiences of family shape us more deeply than we often realise. Our families are where we learned about relationships\, and whether we grew up with siblings or without them\, we each carry quiet stories about belonging\, comparison\, responsibility\, closeness\, rivalry\, or loneliness from these foundational early years. These stories don’t disappear when we become adults and it can be surprising how often they are still alive in how we view our place in the world today. \nAs mothers\, these patterns subtly inform how we see our children\, how we interpret their relationships\, and how we respond and relate to the dynamics between them. We want our children to get along (or have a healthy only-child experience)\, while also knowing how deeply precious they are to us. When we experience sibling rivalry\, troubling behaviour\, or even ‘the easy kid’\, there are so many stories in the making for our children and as the parents we can find ourselves responding based on the hurts or stories of where we came from. But this often means we miss things\, because there are always more sides to any story. \nThe Sibling Story is an opportunity to gain new perspective on patterns and stories created by our ‘oldest\, ‘middle’\, ‘baby’ identities\, wherever or whatever the variation. It is a gentle space to put ourselves in the shoes of our children and bring some curiosity to how we can support them to the most vibrant versions of themselves\, within their sibling identity and outside of it. And an opportunity for ourselves as adults to shed any stories that are still keeping us in habits or behaviours that we never loved to begin with. \nThis workshop invites curiosity\, compassion\, and perspective. This is not a parenting “how-to” or a space for comparison. It is a reflective\, human space. One that honours complexity\, individuality\, and the reality that every family looks and feels different. \nYou’ll leave with greater clarity\, new perspective and awareness\, and practical insights you can carry into everyday family life –  supporting both your children and yourself to thrive.

DESCRIPTION:Come along and learn more about nature-led recovery at Heal’s first rewilding site\, Heal Somerset.\nHeal Somerset began its recovery from its ecologically depleted state at the beginning of 2023 and nature here is already beginning to bounce back. This tour is a unique opportunity to spend time with Heal’s co-founder and acting CEO\, Jan Stannard\, who will take you around part of our beautiful site on mown paths. \nYou will learn more around the wider context of rewilding\, including the reasons we need it and the benefits it brings to nature\, the climate and to our own wellbeing. Jan will talk about the rewilding principles that Heal follows and give you an insight into some of our plans for the land\, particularly the interventions we’re considering and our plans for future livestock introductions. The group will also hear about some of the changes we have seen on the site already\, including the very welcome appearance of wild-living beavers. \nYou will also hopefully experience some of the varied wildlife we have on site\, but even if the creatures are elusive on the day\, we know you will still find the site a beautiful\, peaceful and restorative place to be. \nYour tour will finish with refreshments in our 17th century farmhouse where conversations about rewilding and Heal can continue.
