DESCRIPTION:Learn how to safely identify & sustainably grow\, harvest & preserve medicinal mushrooms & extract their medicine. Create your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet’ and inoculate your own log to take home & fruit in your garden for years to come. \nDuring this full-day workshop\, you’ll discover native\, wild\, medicinal mushrooms growing at 42 Acres and in the local southwest area. \nFor the first half of the day\, you’ll be heading out on a guided foraging walk; illuminating the incredible world of medicinal fungi that we commonly walk past. You’ll learn the key features needed to safely identify each mushroom and where each is commonly found. \nIn the afternoon you will be creating your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet.’ You will learn how to safely preserve your mushrooms and extract their medicine for use all year round\, in yours and your loved ones lives – for a host of illness and preventative uses. This medicine is often very expensive and our shared vision is to support you to be able to do it yourself safely. Our intention is for you to feel empowered to harvest your own mushroom medicine cabinet and grow your own medicinal mushrooms. \nYou will also learn the ancient technique of mushroom inoculation – a highly sustainable method that mimics nature and produces mushrooms dense in nutrients that are hard to find from other food sources. Take home your own inoculated log – where it will fruit in your garden for years to come. \nWhat to expect: \nLearn about the properties of Turkey Tail\, Shiitake\, Lions Mane and Artist Conk\, most of which are native strains to the UK and cultivated from the wild here at 42 Acres.\nBe guided through the basics of drying and making tinctures.\nLearn the technique of mushroom inoculation – the world’s oldest recorded farming method.\nLearn more about 42 Acres’ wild-tending principles and our pioneering agriwilding projects. \nWhat is included: \nThis workshop includes a tasty lunch from our “Soil to Gut” menu – you will eat food grown on the land you’re walking. Wild teas will be provided throughout the session. \nOur session will open with a guided meditation and a check-in\, in the spirit of our vision to help ourselves attune to living in harmony with nature. We believe that connecting in this way encourages deeper connection and mindful working practices\, for both us and the land. \nThis is a unique and hands-on day ideal for any fungi lover or wild medicine cabinet enthusiast!

Along the way\, Celie will share practical photography and storytelling techniques to help you notice more\, see differently and give you confidence to take better photos. \nThis walk is not about about making perfect photos but more about the joy of looking\, practising observation while being present in nature and giving yourself space to switch off from the everyday. \nWhether you’re an experienced photographer or simply enjoy taking photos on your phone\, come and fill your creative cup\, connect with nature and meet others seeking a slower pace of life. \nWhat to expect: \nMeet at the visitor car park at Heal Somerset where you will be directed to our community nature barn for a welcome and introduction with Celie\nGet into a relaxed and inspired headspace through a short grounding exercise\nBe guided through techniques to observe your surroundings with more intention\nLearn what to pay special attention to when taking photos\, with insight into storytelling and technical processes\nYou’ll have the opportunity to ask Celie any questions as you go and she will offer 1:1 photography support\nThe group will finish by chatting about our experience and learnings over a cup of tea\, and share the images we made (if we’d like to!) \nAbout your guide\, Celie Nigoumi \nCelie is an artist and facilitator who finds peace and inspiration when taking her camera on gentle walks in nature. Based in Somerset\, she works across the UK as a story-led Photographer for purposeful brands and organisations. Her practice is greatly influenced by the rhythm of nature and her mindful photowalks support others to slow down and re-connect with themselves and fellow creative folk in the outdoors.

DESCRIPTION:A meaningful experience learning traditional folk medicine-making skills that foster a deeper relationship between the land and ourselves. \nAs the seasons shift\, nature provides us with an abundance of wild berries\, mushrooms\, herbs and trees that are perfectly suited to support and nourish us throughout the winter months. Woodlands and hedgerows become a living basket of nutrient-dense ingredients that can aid our immune system\, respiratory system and general wellbeing\, helping us and our loved ones to stay nourished and well. \nIn this workshop\, guided by Tasha Stevens-Vallecillo\, you will walk the land and learn how to safely identify\, harvest\, store\, and process seasonal wild ingredients. \nYou’ll create a mini apothecary of potent folk medicines to take home – a winter gift to yourself and those you love. Learn to make: \nmedicinal berry tonics (both elderberry and rosehip)\nour much-loved medicinal mushroom chai syrup\na potent spruce salve\nLearning these traditional skills is a meaningful way to reconnect with the land and the abundant cycles of nature. As we protect what we love\, getting out into our local wild spaces fosters a deeper relationship between the land and ourselves. \nThrough foraging and medicine-making we learn more about our environment\, meet like-minded people\, and nurture a resilience that serves both people and the planet. \nThis event includes all materials\, warm drinks\, and a 42 Acres lunch from our Soil-To-Gut menu. You will eat food grown on the land you’re walking. \nThis is a truly ‘head\, heart\, and hands’ day exploring plant lore and learning traditional practices and skills. You’ll leave with your own folk medicines to support you and your loved ones. Plus\, the skills to continue this practice at home. She is the Founder of Land\, Food\, Medicine and has been the visionary of many projects. Tasha is a true creative force working with community\, wild food\, wild tending\, food production and farming to address some of the core issues of our time. DESCRIPTION:As adults\, the freedom to play within art can feel more intimidating. This course is designed to help you explore the possibility of print and repeat patterns using found items and your own designed blocks. As part of this course you will learn techniques\, loosen up\, deepen your knowledge\, and create with greater freedom. Through enquiry\, revision\, and experimentation\, you will grow your artistic practice and personal visual voice. Each course runs for one full term\, allowing you to develop a concept from beginning to end using a single material. \nPlease note that you are making a booking for the term\, which runs for 6 weeks from Tuesday 5th January – 9th Feb. This booking is for a recurring lesson on the same day each week\, please choose your allocated time slot.
